    Good Morning, Everyone,

I'm getting an early start today. Rusty woke us up again about 5 minutes before the "ducks" (our iPhone alarm). He had just visited his litterbox and was zooming around, in and out of his cube, sliding on the rugs, and then galloped down the stairs, 3 at a time! Now if he would only eat his fuds better!!

Our weather is cooling off (thank goodness) and we have about 2 inches of snow. It looks like Winter here! I hope the ground will stay frozen so that when we really get some snow our plower won't do any "landscaping".
Lots to do today. Edward is baking wholewheat bread. I have shopping to do. And I'm going to sew (!) elbow patches on Edward's winter sweater. All of his sweaters have holes in the elbows. He'll get the repaired sweater as a Xmas gift. (Those of you who know me know that sewing is not my forte; but these patches have pre-punched needle holes, so here's hoping it won't take forever.)

Wishing all a fine Sunday and sending healing vines to all kitties and beans in need. Sending a special bouquet of vines to Neko.

So what is this cube that Rusty likes so much? Do you have a picture?
Have a successful day sewing! I can sew but I have to be "in the right mood".

Thanks for thinking of us! :bighug: The image of Rusty horsing around sure brings a smile to my face - been too long since Neko has done that. :(

Is that leather patches you are sewing? I much prefer machine sewing for that. You really need a good needle is hand sewing. I admire you spending so much time on those patches! I much prefer creative sewing to repair work. :arghh:

    Morning Ella :coffee::coffee::coffee:

Looking GOOD Meister Rusty. You off to the lagoon today? Paws crossed for you. The Three Musketeers here love your level of activity today, and wonder if they can come and run too. Bug and Lola will bring pizza for lunch, and Vanessa has the hot toddies ready. They say a radiator break would be prefect for that.:)

Kudos to you for even attempting elbow patch work. I admire you for even attempting to sew them by hand.;) Good luck!

Have a great day today. Enjoy that snow. They say we may have some here this week. Of course it is on a day when DH has to be in Seattle for a DR appt. Well, this is Seattle after all, and it may no even show....

For me this IS creative!! Don't have a sewing machine or even very much thread. I bought upholsterers thread for this "project". Yes, the patches are suede. They looked like they would be easy to do. WRONG!!!

Yo Bug, Lola, Vanessa: come on over. Nice warm radiators. Vanessa can make us some hot toddies.

We had company this evening, so I never got back to the board. Everyone have a good night.
    The LagoonMeister is on duty.

So far it has taken me 2 hours to get half way around an elbow patch. It's like pulling an ice pick through a horse blanket![/QUOTE]

I have same trouble with suede patches. Aarrrghhh....

    Do you knit?
    This might sound weird but....
I've either knit patches to size and joined to sweater with wool, whatever stitch that fits the need such as Mattress stitch. Then with thinner yarn and from wrong side facing, I secure the hole's edges to the new patch once it's in place.

Other times I've knit patches onto (over the hole) the sweater, first by knitting base row joining sweater's stitches as I knit the row, then pick up end stitches and work in as I knit row-to-row. The bind off row I've done either as 3-needle bind-off or bind off and stitch onto sweater. Kinda like darning larger holes without doing cross threading. If I want it to look like a measured, even patch, I'll run guide thread vertically and horizontally to make easier to see measured space.

Neither are as spiffy as leather patches but much easier on the hands and can hold up well too.

And...making homemade bread on a wintry day! Brings back memories and olefactory memories too.

    And Yay Rusty!!!

I love seeing Rusty w/ the zoomies too! I hope the weather stays cold and the snow is plentiful for skiing.

((((Ella)))) Bless your heart for handsewing to repair Edward's sweater, especially handsewing leather! I am with Wendy, I'd beg, borrow or steal (or perhaps barter) to get a sewing machine with a tough denim needle. Ugh, it makes my fingers hurt just thinking about doing what you are doing!

Rusty, hope you are swimming in the lagoon safely!!
