Holding dose. Hubby has him today and he will be out for a bit for therapy. Will not be able to work the food as much.

Looks like he'll be OK today but a few tests when possible is good. Jones's dose has been reduced by 3/4 of a unit with skipped shots in the last 5 days. Hopefully you'll be able to keep this dose. He was clearing a bounce yesterday and many times they have extra momentum on those days. Keep it safe today Jones..

Waiting on son to do test when he gets home. Worried as he was not super hungry this morning. He has been slowly going backwards on his calorie intake but I really don't want to switch foods again. Maybe it is just because he is swinging. I put him in his room this morning to make it easier for him to eat but sometimes he gets stressed out because he wants to be out and about with everyone.

Great job last night Tracey. You must be a bit tired. :coffee::coffee:
When kitties become better regulated, start seeing better numbers, they aren't as "starving" and will typically be less hungry.

Unfortunately yes, welcome zombie with no sleep club. Jones is doing things his way again today! With any luck he'll keep getting reductions and one day OTJ.

Is he still getting the meds as stated in your signature? Hope his appy is just an "off" thing or because is numbers are getting so much better.

He is except the mirtazapine (appetite stimulant). He seemed to be eating around the 300 calories suggested by the vet. And it was hard because with it - he would eat like a monster 1 day and then less day 2 and less day 3. The vet said he could come off and see how he did. And I was thinking if we get the insulin right...then his body would be using all the energy going in - not peeing half of it out again. His last dose was about a week ago and then I haven't given it since....it is hard because you want to do right by them. Not sure if I made the right call. He is such a moron and won't use his feeder and he doesn't want to be locked up in a room by himself.....arggg. Man-boob of a cat.

Yes he is! I just knew he was going up by the way he acted last night. It seems he wants to bounce a short bit and hopefully we can get a longer blue/green run. I am guessing that his body is trying to figure this out now that we are zeroing in on what dose he really needs. Just hope to have things more stable before I leave.

Remember Jones is in charge...you're doing everything you can! Pred every 2nd day...might be good to put a note in when you're giving it just to see if there is any trend on those days or not.

Great thought Karen...I will go back and put notations on the SS and see if we can see anything. If I didn't have foggy brain...I would just know (that is why the pill box that gets filled as soon as there is only 1 day left) I noted the B12 shot but I don't think that should impact much.

It's also useful to note if the pred is AM or PM. We had one caregiver who decided to give the pred in the AM, cause it would raise her kitties BGs enough that she always felt safe going to work and it would wear off for the PM when she was home. But ECID, you have to find out what works for Jones.

It is always the PM...based upon vets' suggestion but not sure why. But that is a good thought...

Last night was the dose - bolded the date of when it was given. He has eaten a bit at 130 but hasn't eaten the rest of the afternoon.

Lets see what he is at PMPS. If you can monitor I think it's a good idea to shoot the 1.75 again. There is likely still some depot at play. He's had too many dose changes to really tell where it is. What are you thinking?

Just did it again 4.9...he isn't budging. This is hard...I can do a +2+4 and do alarm for +6. My stomach is just turning. His appetite is off, he has loose poops and he is losing weight again. Karen - I am lost...

You don't have to shoot. Skipping is not for Jones but sometimes we have to do it. Even if you reduce the dose again you'd have to monitor the same. Maybe see how he eats dinner? Is that 4.9 his PMPS?

Sigh, just a quick note. Weruva and Wellness both have gums in them which is not a good thing for an IBD kitty. You might try to find the Ziwi Peak and see if he'll eat it. It's pricy but its the best canned food without any BS ingredients. Not sure if you can even get it locally.

Yep. OK, that might explain it. I picked up some fancy feast tonight. He wants to eat and just had a bit of his sisters KD food. I am going to shoot....wish me luck.

He was willing to eat the fancy feast. Gave him the shot. Will keep feeding that in small doses over the night. Everytime I check. I was going to cook my own food for him...but didn't want to change too much. Hahahahahahaha. I don't know how you ladies do it but hats off to you.

Doodles is one of the worst eaters on the board along with a few others :arghh:. Always good to have multiple options and glad to hear he wanted to eat! Surf safely please Jones.

Which FF did you feed? That's not that big of a jump really.

I think Neko beat Doodles for inappetance in her last few months. Nausea due to many things (heart, CKD, IBD/lymphoma, chemo...). I usually had a few open cans in the fridge, and sometimes needed to syringe feed to get her jump started. Since she was on Levemir, I had several hours to get food in her, so it wasn't so much pressure if she didn't want to eat right away. Surprisingly enough, the gums in Wellness and Weruva did not bother her digestive system. ECID.

Thank goodness his sister will eat his leftovers. I got the Turkey, Chicken and Whitefish pate. Fed the Turkey. Mixed it in the DM. Which is all he really is interested in lately. Did get some probiotic in today - mixed it in with some tuna water otherwise he will not touch it.

I think the pates are what you want to feed. I never feed FF here so don't have personal experience with it.

He has now had two snacks! He has eaten more tonight then the previous day and half. I am going to go get a 2 hour nap and test again at 1230 - see where he is at when at peak. Maybe too much food and he is still in the zone. Glad we did the shot!
