    1/27/17 OSCAR'S CURVE - Input Needed

Oscar's curve today reads as follows:
    234 AMPS/ 173 +2/ 108 +4/ 144 +6/ 167 +8 /212 +10 / 169 PMPS/ 113 +2 He is on .10U of Lantus.

I took Oscar's weight. He is 6.72 (was 8lbs 5 months ago). On Feb 5 I switched him from Boreal to Friskies, partly due to economics but largely to see if the extra carbs may help him gain some weight.

His behaviour & litter habits are the same & he continues to have a veracious appetite.

Input re Oscar's dosage, weight or change in food would be appreciated.

I think he needs an increase but see what others say since you are using SLGS.

    Your last post here: http://www.felinediabetes.com/FDMB/threads/possible-wet-food-switch-boreal-to-friskies.172457/

Oscar has seen a lot of below 90 on this dose, including that one 31 on the third. No matter whether you are following SLGS or TR, that 31 calls for a reduction. However, after that you switched to the slightly higher carb Friskies which seems to be keeping him flatter. But I'm a little worried about how low he's going tonight. If the +2 is a lot lower than the preshot, like tonight, that means an active cycle that needs more monitoring. If you are up in the middle of the night, I'd get a test in.

Under SLGS, if you are getting nadirs from 90-150, you hold the dose. Below 90 you reduce. Since you are on such a small dose already, you might want to try that fat drop dose again.

Truly I am confused. Two suggestions here - 1) to increase and 2) to decrease to a fat drop. I think I could use more input to level out what I will do next. Wanting to do the right thing for the boy.

We figure out how to dose Lantus based on how LOW that dose takes a kitty. 31 is too low and means a reduction.

I agree with Wendy. He earned a reduction with the 31 and again with the 74 but you held the dose.

Personally, I think he's going lower on you at night. You are missing half his data by not doing any tests at night at all and with his PMPS starting out in blue, there's no telling how low he's getting. On the cycle he went to 31, he started out at 175.
