My Tiger-Lamb spent yesterday throwing up, wouldn't eat breakfast so I couldn't shoot him. He had diarrhea mid morning, but by evening he was back to normal and ate well. I gave him 3.5u, and this morning he ate well and had another 3.5. His numbers didn't go down all day, until pre pm shot he was 359. He wouldn't eat supper. Hasn't eaten since breakfast, now has weepy eyes and a temp of 102.8'. I'm taking him in tomorrow, but should I give insulin tonight? I will tempt him with some Ff in a minute, but if he won't eat at all I'm not sure what to do. Help!

I was told by my vet that if she didn't eat to not give the shot.

That's what I thought too. Just wasn't sure with the number being so high.

This is a tough one. He’s obviously not feeling well and hasn’t eaten so a full dose would probably be too much. No insulin, high numbers and no food is a bad combination though. Maybe try 1 u and test at +2? If you have ketone test strips I’d try for a urine test too.

He wouldn't even touch Fancy Feast. I can't stay up another 2 hours, I've been sick as a dog all week. He's already 2.5 hours past his shot time. I've got him in bed with me, so he will wake me up if he needs anything. Just going to have to see how he is in the morning. Don't have any urine strips, and he hasn't peed for hours anyway. Honestly, it's worse than having a baby - he likes to keep me worrying!

He is just furry baby. Maybe he has colic.

Just got home. Saw new vet, young but I liked her. She thinks he just has a hairball; he was very tense when she felt his stomach. Giving him some stuff to help push it through (yummy!). If he doesn't get back to normal we will try something else. He ate breakfast ok, and just had some more food, so he's feeling better today. She was impressed with his spreadsheet, said I was very organized. If she only knew what my daily life is like!

Found out there is a special clinic 3 hours away dedicated to diabetic pets; if he doesn't settle down on his numbers I can take him there. After I've sold a kidney or two to afford it of course..

I quite sure we can help you get there without selling a kidney! ;)

Probably not a good idea. Many here use Miralax, lactulose or give plain canned pumpkin for constipation. You can post asking for advice about this.
