It is something that has puzzled/concerned us for a bit now.

Since Tylers fur was shaved from under his chin last September it has not really grown back. There is a light covering but that it is.
Also his whiskers! I mentioned to the vet some while ago that Ty's whiskers had reduced in length. They are little short things now. They used to be quite mighty.

The vet was unconcerned of course. Like he was unconcerned when I pointed out Ty's issue with his back paws/legs seeming to drag a little & being a bit numb , which then turned into a pronounced issue of neuropathy.

Is the lack of fur growth and the shortened whisker growth a sign of a deficiency somewhere please?

I realise he is of an age with BP, CKD and diabetic probs but I haven't seen anyoone else say they have baldy whiskerless cats.

I noticed that all of our cats have less fur on their chins then the rest of their bodies. I wouldn't call it bald but sparse.

Is this fur not growing back after it being shaved?

Try a web search for 'post-shaving alopecia', e.g:

    https://www.petmd.com/blogs/dailyvet/2009/december/15-5143

Can be a symptom of euthyroid sick syndrome (thyroid levels slightly below normal range - an endocrine self-protection measure caused by the body trying to compensate for other 'malfunctions' in an animal's system, according to my vet).

Supplementation with B-complex helped Saoirse's hair to regrow when she had post-shaving alopecia. Check Tanya's site for dosing because of the CKD. Here's a link:
