Effys been on 2.5u twice a day since the start. This morning he tested at 134, do I still dose him or should I give a smaller dose or do I just not dose for now?

I'm not going to dose this time, but I'd still love to hear opinions for whenever this happens again. Super happy with this AMPS number though! Our first somewhat normal number since he's started!!!!

ugh another update, i just tested again out of curiosity with a freestyle lite, and he tested at 406. I just tested a third time with the original alphatrak strips that I used with the 134 test and that one tested at 334. MAKE UP YOUR MIND BLOOD SUGAR!!! I hate that this feels like such a gamble right now but I think it's safe to say I can dose him, i'll set an alarm for an hour to test again and see where he's at. BIG SIGH. Hopefully some of you are up and scrolling through here soon, I feel too alone to go through this lol!!

That 134 was totally out of the norm, so that was a red flag. Any time you get a number that surprises you, high or low, it's a good idea to immediately retest to verify that it was not an error.

    Yes, absolutely shoot!

Meanwhile, Effy's been on this dose for quite some time. I'm sorry I'm not familiar with your situation. Is there a reason you aren't getting any midcycle tests? Remember that Lantus dosing is based on how low the insulin takes the cat, and if you don't know that, you can't determine what is a good dose. If you could maybe do a curve one day soon, that would be most helpful, but just getting one or two mid-cycle tests each cycle will tell us something. Think of the spreadsheet as a jigsaw puzzle. If you only fill in the edges, you can't see what the picture is.

That was a really good metaphor! I am still struggling getting some nadir shots inbetween with him, between him being so unhappy with it and me being busy throughout the day most of the time. We have a good little routine right now where he willingly lets me test before each shot but only because he knows he gets to eat after waiting the two hours beforehand. Whenever I get a shot in between the dosing tests, he actually gets pretty vengeful and spite pees or poops on items around the house he knows are important to me, aka rugs, shoes, clothing, once he even peed on my makeup lol. I bought some freeze dried chicken to start setting up a "I get a treat whenever this happens" sort of thing going but he still fights it (for now atleast). But our current goal is definitely getting some tests in between!! I ended up dosing, thanks for answering!!
** I am most likely going to do a curve within the next few days since I have nothing going on finally.
