    Yesterday

    Good Morning L&LL,
This morning it was 20 degrees F. !! Looks like we'll be having the "January Thaw" this week.
Rusty has a noon appointment at the vet for his B-12 shot and to have his sinuses looked at. He seems much better today than yesterday. I hope the vetty bean can help him. Linda (@Linda and Bear Man ) suggests asking her about nebulizer treatment. I'm not sure Rusty would want to be put into a box with a hose dispensing drops of mist, but I will ask about it.

    Report later.

No, I doubt he would love it. A vet might have a cage with a plexiglass front and it could be done in house.

Not sure if the above link would work for you.

Good luck with the vet visit!

I forgot to bring up the subject. See below.

Hi again, We are home and beginning a brave new world of treatment: steroids! I worry about it, but the vet believes that his chronic nasal congestion has gotten so much worse that he needed a powerful anti-inflamatory (she has mentioned this before). So he got a shot of Depo Medrol (20mg/ml). He also got his B-12 shot and had a complete blood panel so that we could observe at a later time the possible effects of the steroid. We go back in a week for evaluation. Apparently the steroid shots are every 5 or 6 weeks. I don't know for how long. I didn't know what questions to ask, being a total know-nothing about medications. I do know that steroids can cause diabetes in non-diabetic cats and that I will almost certainly have to raise Rusty's dose (the one good thing might be that I'll be able to measure a larger dose much more accurately).
So the LagoonMeister may have to work from the lifeguard's chair for a while, supervising his deputies. It's a good thing LagoonMeisterin China (@Chris & China ) is going to remain on duty after she goes OTJ.

Rusty is exhausted from his vetty visit. He hates having things "done" to him. Going downstairs now to hold his dinner bowl. bbl

I hope the steroids help Rusty. If he needs it, he needs it and you can adjust his insulin dose. I hope Rusty recovers from the vetty visit soon. :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Aww, poor Rusty! I don't know anything about steroid shots in cats, but it sounds like your vet is on her game and doing that baseline blood work was a great idea. I really hope the steroids help Rusty breathe easy and I'm sure he will be minding the lagoon in no time because that is his thing! :D
