    Yesterday

    Hi L&LL,

Rusty was sitting on the nightstand looking out the window when we got up this morning (it was dark, but I guess he saw something out there). At first I didn't think he was doing very well, but he did eat some of his breakfast (ate some more later), drank from his water glass, and seems pretty good. His eyes are OK, and he is sneezing OK. We had a really good combing. He's been up and down on the table, his perch, the radiator, and the couch.

Even though I skinnied the 0.25U dose again, he managed to get a 30 bg. He got a drop of Karo in his food at lunchtime and ate some of his lunch. He's sleeping in his bed next to the radiator now (his usual afternoon routine).
The transdermal pred hasn't arrived yet at the vet's. Rusty's next appointment will be on Tuesday afternoon. I hope he will continue to do OK.

The chicken broth is finished cooking and I'm going downstairs now to strain it and put it into jars. I hope Rusty will eat some! (not too sanguine, however!).

Thanks for all your visits and help. I plan to visit some condos this afternoon to catch up.

Keep eating, Rusty, enjoy your chicken broth, it’s a magical elixir! Did his nose stop bleeding? I really hope the pred comes soon, if not today, I’m guessing you’ll have to wait for Monday? Tons more breathing and eating and healing vines for Rusty! :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Come on up now, Rusty. Please let us know what his BG is at +6.5.
I hope he likes the chicken broth. He might like it more without the extra water added.

more vines today for continued better breathing, no eye goop, and that he just improves despite he won't have those meds until at least monday.
Just one more day and that could help even more.

Rusty had a low-key afternoon sleeping in his bed by the radiator, but by the mid evening he was feeling pretty good. He ate quite a lot of his dinner and his eyes and nose look good. I put some of the chicken broth I made this morning into his Paw Lickin' Chicken nighttime snack. He always licks the liquid out of this snack and leaves the chicken, so I hope he will drink the broth.
By the way, the broth is delicious. I used it in the dinner I made for us this evening: a risotto with wild mushrooms and green peas. I've never made risotto before because it always seemed to be so difficult. The Instant Pot did a great job!

Thank you all for the continued vines and well wishes. 'night, all!

Yo, I'm on duty tonight. Surf Safe, kitties!

Ella, popped in this morning after some days out of the loop. Was very glad to read that Rusty had a better day yesterday but sorry he had had a rough few days. I hope your chicken broth helps. He is one lucky fellow ❤️❤️ to have you and Edward.

Would Rusty go for the raw liver shake for a little boost? It’s still a godsend in our household, especially with Azalea, who btw along with me continues to thank you for suggesting it!

Your risotto with chicken broth sounds wonderful. Which instapot do you use? I did start looking at them and then got distracted!

Heaps of hugs and vines for Rusty, you and Edward and scritches for Rusty to continue to feel better.

Hi Ella, I know I shouldn't respond on yesterday's thread but, I wanted to check in on Rusty and glad to hear that he is doing better. I hope you get the transdermal pred tomorrow and that he continues to hold his own. He is a lucky boy that momma is making him chicken broth. :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:

Hi Sina, Thanks for checking in on Rusty. No, I haven't yet made the liver shake. I'd need to get most of the ingredients first! Today he is so much improved that I hope I won't need to! (see my today's condo in a little while, after I write it!). The Instant Pot model that I bought is the Duo 60, 6 quart. It is wonderful. Some of my friends bought the Duo 60 Plus (which has 3 additional programed functions), including a cake program (but you can make cakes in the regular Duo 60 too).
I hope that Azalea and the Tribe are doing well, and you and Steve, too.
