I am going to email my vet with Rupert's ss. He's been on ProZinc since December 15th. Was wondering if I should change to Lantus. Are there pens & vials? Which ones cheaper where to buy?

    Thanks

    Hello and welcome.

It's hard to say if a switch to Lantus would help Rupert. He hasn't been on Prozinc very long Can you tell me a bit more about him? Any other issues besides diabetes?

There are both pens and vials for Lantus. There is lots of good info in the Sticky Notes in the forum. The one on Syringe and Insulin Info will tell you lots about getting Lantus. There are some people in the Supply Closet Forum who sell pens, and I think a lot of people buy them cheaper on Marks Online Pharmacy in Canada. Pens are a more economical deal - you can use a pen to the very end, whereas vials only last around 6 months. Depending on the cat's dose, you may be wasting lots of the vial.
