Saying Goodbye #GA

I have only gotten to know a few of you but you helped a lot. Roger and I had to decide just how much to put our boy through. Oreo Joe went from normal stools, after than 1 week long struggle of not going before, to a small rock hard stool and small in size, last week Wed and although he tries 3 or 4 times a day nothing is going out. He is still syringe fed and sticking by my side or lap all the time. Sat his good drinking habit went from several times a day to none that I saw yesterday although he did drink long this morning.
While he went a a full week before he got results last time by the time he went he wasn't feeling at all well. I can't do that to him again. Vet P said that she was afraid that the spot she thought was a tumor was pushing ( possibly growing) against the colon and making it hard to go.
I will be calling the vet tomorrow morning and taking him in for his trip to the Bridge.
I have had him in my arms for hours and hours these past few weeks and telling him how much I love him and telling him about Heaven and praying for a 2nd miracle. I get up at 7AM for his meds and first feeding and then at the end of the day and after his last feeding I sit up until 2 AM to cuddle him. I will miss that so much.
I guess God wants me to adopt a new kitty. I saw one with diabetes but the vet bill and Bonnie's savings accounts are empty, and I will not ask for that one. God heard me say one day how much I missed nursing and helping the patients and giving them extra love. Guess He decided to help me out first with Cessan who had diabetes and CKD and then Oreo with Hypothyroidism and Diabetes and a tumor.
I am going to retire.
Oreo is looking out the window at the 14 F bitter cold windy white landscape and watching the magpies that live here.
It is so hard to say goodbye but most of you already have gone through the same thing.

I am so, so sorry that it's Oreo Joe's time to go to the Bridge. As hard as the decision has been for you to make, know that you are giving him the gift of leaving in dignity, surrounded by so much love. I pray that your wondeful memories, both old and new, will help your heart to heal.

I'm so sorry. You and Oreo Joe have fought so hard together. You've done everything possible for your boy, and given him this last few weeks of snuggles and happiness and watching magpies. This is the last, loving gift you can give him, as terribly hard as it is.
