What do you guys give your older diabetic kitties to help with arthritis. Angel has been showing some signs recently. She will be 15 in April. She is regulated for the most part. Thanks!

I give my girls TDC. I started it at the recommendation of a dental specialist who speaks very, very highly of it. Everything I have read indicates that it is a great supplement for dental and joint health and other bonuses like muscle stamina and coat health.

Holy moly that’s expensive. Do you give 1 a day?

Onsior. The Best Pain Management Med for arthritis in cats according to my vet, who has a strong interest in treating chronic pain in animals. Better than metacam. Off-label, but you can go on for years, even with CKD (there's this study on NSAIDs long-term in cats, with and without CKD, no difference in outcome between the two groups). Quintus has been on it for... I don't know, 5 years now? I stopped two weeks during his diabetes month, and when I resumed he was a completely different cat (understand: MUCH better).

Also, if arthritis is not too advanced, to preserve what cartilage is still around, cosequin or equivalent (think of it as "lubricant")

You give 1 a day for 30 days to start then 1 every other day. That bottle has 120 in it, so it should last you 7 months (future bottles would last 8 months). Supposedly, the way it is absorbed makes it more effective than things like glucosamine.

If the pain gets bad enough for Angel and she doesn't like pills or getting liquids check my profile for what I give Noah. Good luck Cherish and Angel.

The manufacturer says three days max for Onsior

My Moxie has joint degradation. First she was on cosequin, then vet added gabapentin (50 mg twice daily), then added Adequan injection

That is different than off-label since in the USA it says 3 days max. If the manufacturer said only for dogs (like Cerenia) then off-label would be to use for dogs. But to use longert than manufacturer says in against the label.
However, I am not saying that using it more than the manufacturer recommends is not acceptable

We did cosequine, dasuquin.... Didn't do much. ADEQUAN injections have been wonderful.

Neko started with fish oil (omega 3) and glucosamine with MSM. As things got worse we went to Cartrophen (we don't get Adequan in Canada). I also tried Duralactin and hyaluronic acid (Hyaflex is one brand). More sussess with Duralactin. ECID. For pain management we did buprenorphine and periodic acupuncture, supplemented by me doing daily acupressure as the vet taught me to do. Bupe was a game changer in her QOL. She was a lot more mobile after her acupuncture treatments. The goal of the acupressure was to lengthen the time between treatments, which was about once a month.

Are you giving Dasuquin twice a day, or once? This is for our 15 year old Akie, diagnosed with arthritis. We're also giving fish oil once a day and began adequan injections today.

No side effects. I bought the first vial from my vet.... Bought the rest from valleyvet.com for about 40% less than from the vet. Of course. Lol.

Hi Janet! Funny you responded because I just got off the phone with the vet and he gave the ok to start adequan! Would you mind linking me to the One you bought? I see two on that website. Do you buy the syringes too?

The dosage is by weight. My cat gets 0.3 ml. She has fairly advanced arthritis... So we've been injecting onc per week. Otherwise she limps. Most do 2 shots a week for 4 weeks then a maintainance dose of 1 shot every 3-4 weeks.

10.5*2=21, so your dose will most likely be .2 My CC is 16 lbs so she gets more (.3)

We got the adequan a few days ago. My bf said the box said to put in fridge but the bottle itself says different. How do you store yours? Did we just ruin it by keeping in the fridge?

I inject same place where insulin would be injected. I do not worry about reaction with insulin since I use the Adequan on a civi.
