    Hi All -

I have a question around urine marking. My kitty was diagnosed early February, and we were able to get him into remission as of now with just a change to FF only. Prior to diagnosis he was marking two areas in my house, my bedroom literally two feet from my face at night and also at the bottom of the stairs. I've cleaned all areas with a carpet cleaner, natural's miracle, rocco and roxies, vinegar, etc. When he was diagnosed he did have a bladder infection which he was treated for and two weeks after diagnosis had another antibiotic injection since he was hospitalized. I've had the stairwell area blocked off until recently just to see what would happen, and of course last night I checked and he had hit it. :( I'm curious has anyone else had issues with cats who continue to mark? I don't believe he has another bladder infection as he is acting like a young cat since getting his BGs under control and isn't drinking like he was prediagnosis, but was really sad to see that same spot hit again. I know trying to rid the area completely is quite difficult but I'm open to suggestions. Thanks in advance!

@JanetNJ has often recommended something called Anti Icky Poo. I think she orders it online.

Perfect, I'll look it up. I'll try anything to stop him from doing this. :(

I get the Anti Icky Poo unscented from amazon. In my experience it eliminates the oder and is itself, oder free. That being said I'd probably still block off that stair area. I had a cat that no matter what, if we left the basement bathroom door open he would pee in there. He wasn't going anywhere else... just had a thing for that bathroom. We kept that door closed. Is he using his box most of the time?

Yeah 98% of the time he uses his box. I have to keep him downstairs during my workday and at night since he eats wet food slowly. But when we're home he is out and I'm guessing that's when he took advantage. :( Thankfully the basement is unfinished so I haven't seen any spots down there

i gave up trying to rid of smell on carpet next to my dresser, i used ckean-free enzymes undiluted and i can't smell it anymore but, spot still got sprayed every couple days. i started spraying the ceva feliway every night on dresser bottom/area and it did stop him from spraying it but, not when i forgot. i now use SSScat auto cat deterrent spray thingie, got him one time and he rarely comes upstairs now, i feel bad about that part though but, it worked, no more spraying at his favorite dresser/carpet spot.

the diffusers only seem to work when right next to problem area but, not with all cats. i have one right next to my bed so they won't pee on it again, works the 9mth old hasn't done so since but, it didn't stop orange cat from peeing on dresser/carpet in my bedroom. the spray works better for direct problem areas IMO.

I was looking at the ssscat spray but I'd be afraid it would prevent him from coming upstairs. As of now I have the baseboards blocked off, just makes it look messy. Better than cleaning up cat pee I guess.
