Where do you put it in your personal cat's plan?
It's low carb by definition (and labeling information)
It has cornstarch, a simple sugar.

How are you counting it? Treat, daily food, snack, ?

My little one was eating several jars a day and misses it. Vet said he can eat all he wants. In diabetic humans, cornstarch is a no no.

Try Tiki Cat Mousse. It is just like baby food and zero carbs...high protein. My cat loves it for a little snack.

I don't give unless he won't eat or I need to get meds into him (that I can mix with the baby food). Gizmo loves it too so that is why I save it for emergencies

 

If you can find Beechnut brand they do not have cornstarch in it. Well the beef & broth and the Chicken & broth flavor do not. I use to give it as a snack and mixed in water to get Chuck to drink a little extra water. It also held him over if he was acting completely starving before +10... The beef & broth is quite jello like when put in the fridge. I preferred the chicken & broth if not mixing with water.

The phosphorus wasn't listed on their website for the mousse - I e-mailed them. This is the reply I received. I am not sure this is the information needed to determine the phosphorus - should it be the DM or the "As-Fed"?

Wow, that is the most helpful reply I have ever seen to a nutrition values inquiry! I usually get some person that has no clue and keeps giving me the Guaranteed Analysis.

I would ask for the as fed, too, since they offered. When you get it, you might send both to Dr. Lisa. I'm sure she'd add it to her Food List the next time she updates.

I prefer the beechnut brand as it has no cornstarch. If you feed baby food for anymore than a week, the kitty is not getting all the nutrition it needs so you would need to supplement. There is a powder supplement you can buy from Foodfurlife called EZ Complete. I use it in my cats raw diet. It has taurine, calcium, liver, omega 3's and other stuff they need in their diet.

 

My cats never liked the Beechnut. I thought it was the consistency. I never noticed a spike in BG due to feeding the Gerbers, but Harvey and Cinco were not super carb sensitive.

 

Got a reply for the as-fed: (makes no sense to me)

The as fed percentage is 0.232% phosphorus in the Chicken Velvet Mousse. This is the percentage of the formula, so it will be the same percentage no matter the size of container. Please let me know if you have any other questions.
