Faith is sky high again this morning & i don't undetstand why!!

Nothing has changed, shes eating the same food, drinking the same amount of water, insulin is only 2 weeks old so its still fresh & shes acting fine. I don't understand why shes so high.

Tonight i will pick up the blood ketone meter on my wah home from work & test for ketones.

Question, is it posdible for me to give her some fast acting insulin to bring her numbers down? I can be home to monitor closely this weekend & i have lots of strips & high carb food on hand.

Faith had pancreatitis & was positive for ketones 2 weeks ago. She was hospitalized for 2 days for treatment. Ketones were 1.2 and 12 hours after she was admitted for treatment she was negative for ketones.

What’s the WCR (whole cat report)?
All 5 Ps in place (peeing, pooping, preening, purring and playing) ?
    Appetite normal?
    Any recent weight loss?

Glad to hear you are getting the blood ketone meter. With the recent ketone incident vigilance is required.

Any chance he is painful due to p-titis? He may need some bupe. Pain can elevate BG

Everything seems normal except her sugars are high. My niece got a +5 test in for me today & Faith was at 94 so that was good to see, unfortunately since it was going to be awhile before anyone was home to monitor Faith my niece gave Faith almost half a can of high carb food instead of half a teaspoon like i said so Faith is back up to the high numbers.

Im going to call the vet & ask about done bupe. Faith seems good but she is sitting in a loaf position this afternoon so maybe she is in pain.

regarding your niece - she kept Faith safe. Better a day too high than an hour too low. Hopefully the high carb hangover wont last long. ;)

Glad you are going to inquire about the bupe. Cats are so good at hiding pain, you sometimes have to tune into nuances of behavior to figure it out.
