    hi all,
My boy Frosty was just in 2 weeks of clavamox due to a skin tear. He finished the antibiotics about a week ago. Yesterday I started noticing very very loose and watery stool in and outside the litter box. I’m concerned about c diff. Has anyone’s cat had it? I think the treatment is the same as humans - flagyl? Does he need to be isolated from the other pets and us as well? Any info would be appreciated. Thanks!

My feline has never had C.diff. I know it is super contagious in humans though. How often is he #2-ing? That would be the biggest give away to me is the frequency--as that could lead to dehydration.

Like 4-5 times a day? And not only in the litter box. It’s super fun. That’s why I’m so concerned, bc of how contagious it is. He’s going to the vet who prescribed him the abx in an hour.

Evidently, they don’t usually do fecal testing for bacterial infections or overgrowth in cats -they just treat empirically. So the downside was that I had to being Frosty in for an exam. But it did save me money on the test, which would have been a couple hundred dollars. His diarrhea resolved with flagyl and probiotic, but then returned. I wasn’t sure if maybe I had been giving him too many hair ball treats (I was giving 2 a day as instructed bc he has vomiting in the past), so I stopped those and gave him the remaining flagyl. So far no more diarrhea.
