I have been a little nervous, if you look at Princess's chart and her AMPS and PMPS have been in the 400's the last few days.

    The Details

    1. Currently she gets fed (3) times a day each time its Fancy Feast Classics, 11am - 5-6pm - 11pm,, Up till a couple of days ago was getting 5.5oz of Friskies Pate at 11a and 3oz Fancy Feast Classic 11p (I thought Friskies was the cause of her higher readings recently) Very beginning she was getting FF twice a day, but was hungry all day !!!!
    2. She generally eats all her food 2 hours before AMPS and PMPS, but if not I remove it 2 hours in advance.
    3. Today I gave her 1.5 u of Vetsulin, but it has been 1 unit till now.
I am surprised how much food swings her Glucose Readings after doing her first Curve and that they have been getting higher at AMPS and PMPS last few days.

I was concerned about feeding her all day, which she did pre-diabetes (unlimited Purina One dry, 6pm Friskies Can - lots of heavy gravy ones), but a few people said they do as well.

Should I be concerned about her AMPS & PMPS readings being so high? see chart link below in signature

I went to give Prince her Vetsulin shot and noticed that even though I roll the bottle a good 20-30 seconds each day, tonight it appeared to be seperated, so I shook it, then panicked, then read that shaking is part of the new directions and is OK - https://www.adwdiabetes.com/articles/shake-roll-insulin I am wondering if this has affected my recent glucose numbers. I will look at the solution more carefully over the next few days, and do another curve later in the week (Princess hates the ear pricking, despite loving the chunky turkey treats I made for her, she was never a pickup and hold kitty, always had to be on her terms but she was always affectionate)

THOUGHTS ON TAKING HER FOOD AWAY DURING THE DAY FOR THE NEXT CURVE??

PS: Why is only having 1 can over night NOT lowering her AMPS if she is food free at least
2 hours before taking Glucose reading????

The AMPS is always the last number to come down due to something called Dawn Phenomenon

Keep in mind that the AMPS and PMPS numbers are basically her glucose level without insulin. Vetsulin is not a long-lasting insulin, so it should have worn off by then. Also, she has really not been on insulin long. It can take time for their PS numbers to come down. The more time she spends in lower healthy numbers, the more her pancreas can heal which increases the chance of it producing it's own insulin.

As Chris said, that AMPS is the last thing to come down. I find myself a bit annoyed about that myself lately... and I have been at this almost a year. :)
