I only have a few days of testing that I logged (hopefully I did it right) and so far the numbers are low enough that I do not give a shot. I haven’t been able to get a mid day reading yet He’s suppose to be given 3U but with his numbers so low Ive been scared to even give a reduced dose. Am I correct to skip a dose and maybe he’s going into remission with the recent change to wet food or could something else be going on?

Yes, you are definitely correct to skip the shots at those numbers. Thank goodness you are testing and not just giving the 3u! We say a cat is in remission when they have gone two weeks without a shot, and numbers staying below 120, with most numbers in the greens. So do keep checking for a bit longer to make sure those numbers stay low.

Those numbers look great. Diet change is enough for some cats. Some of us are not so fortunate.

Ok just wanted to make sure there wasn’t something I was missing. Fingers crossed his diet change will do the trick. I wanted to do this before he started insulin but the vet didn’t think it was a good idea. O well, I guess if it works now that’s all that matters! I’ll keep checking for a couple weeks and see if the numbers stay low. Thanks!

Yes, please keep checking. We were lucky enough to have Idjit go into remission with change of diet and insulin support for a short time. We still do test him periodically just to reassure ourselves that the remission holds, as well as observing eating, drinking, general cat life doings. :cat:

It's cats like Scooter that makes us try so hard to get people to test their cats. I was lucky that my vet insisted that I test before the first shot. You are a great cat mom.

Please feel free to pop by and ask any questions, especially if you get some weird numbers and aren't sure what to do! Thank goodness you are testing!
