See this post for a little brief backstory on why I need Bupe.
Has anyone had their vet use Bupe as an injection? My regular vet is out, but another one there has offered to give my cat pain meds for her lesion on her tooth.

I asked for the liquid, but they indicated the shot would be better.

We give Phoebe a topical bupe that we rub on her ear. It's compounded by the pharmacy. Maybe the shot will last longer, not sure. But at first we were giving her into her cheek oral medication. It worked, when we got it in, instantly. Lol but she does not like anything by mouth so we were wasting it and she was still in pain so we went with the dermal.

Yeah, my vet gave me some awhile ago, but it was in a liquid. It was for something different though.

Spot had an injection the first time he had a pancreatitis episode. It was the same 3-day injection that they give kitties after spay/neuter procedures, so maybe a little higher dose than what he needed at the time. I found that it made him high as a kite for about 3 days, to the point where he would just stare at his food but not know what to do with it. I was already force feeding him due to the pancreatitis, but this just made him not even want to help out with the swallowing. So I'm not a fan of the shot. But it really does depend on the kitty. If he's in a lot of pain, it may be worth it because it is more effective and longer duration than oral bupe.

It's so hard to find a balance when they can't tell us what is wrong and how bad the pain is.
My heart broke this morning. She just starred at her food. You could tell she was hungry, as she jumped up when she heard the can.

I'm glad spot has a mama like you to take care of him.

Noah also gets transdermal BUPE. Same as with Phoebes the oral was a waste and he absolutely hated the taste. We tried every variation.
Take home injectable BUPE is a no-go in Canada but the paste is so easy to use. Noah has big time dental problems.
