after injecting Lilly today I noticed a tiny drop of blood on the needle.
I may have possibly injected in blood stream. Is this something I should be worried about?

It's possible you nicked a capilliary with the needle. If you did inject into a blood vessel, you may see a faster onset. I hope you can get a test in tonight.

I will keep testing.. her BG is still 435 right before shot.
I’m using 5/16” needles .. are these too long considering she’s down to 7-8 lbs and there isn’t much fat to grab?

Now I’m starting to think that I’m giving the insulin wrong and that’s why I’m not seeing a change in BG levels

What spot are you giving the injections?

Right above the neck.. I pull the skin up and back a bit then inject parallel to the body into the skin that I pulled. I do insert the whole needle tho (5/16”).
I alternate to the right and left of that spot and sometimes a little lower down towards upper middle back.

    No , not at all.
I use the same length when I can buy it and I had gotten a few blood drops from the syringe after the injection - it turned all right, no problem whatsoever. I used for Ducia when she was 7 lb and now when she is 10+ - no difference, Lilly will be ok.

Yeah, I find the scruff the best spot to get a nice tent. Shaving a patch of fur right there can help a lot too.

I call this a "blood shot". As Wendy says, you probably nicked a capillary. It is not uncommon. It sounds like your shot technique is fine. Try not to worry! 5/16th inch needles are fine.

I definitely feel little better about it. Thanks everyone for the advise and reassurance.

Could you take the 911 off, now that things are fine? Thanks.
