So ... I picked up a ReliOn Micro and testing supplies after work today, warily approached Coco, examined her ear, and went for it. I got enough blood on the first try! And. She. Didn’t. Even. Flinch.
Her BG was 103 so no insulin (Novolin N) after her supper.
I’m happy and terrified all at the same time and feel like I have super powers!

When I realized that wet food could make a huge difference in her BG levels, I felt I didn’t have an option but to test. It’s daunting. But tonight I am a rock star! LoL

Uh oh... that successful on your first try spells trouble for the future... Next thing you know you'll be a testaholic like the rest of us, chasing kitty around the house with the lancet to get "just one more test for today...". :p

Oh y'all! My beginner's luck was soooooo short-lived. This morning Coco was not nearly as cooperative. After two unsuccessful attempts (used the lancet pen but got no blood), she had enough and darted under the king-size bed! Refused to come out. Nothing could tempt her, not even freeze-dried chicken. We will try again when I get home. It was just a little embarrassing explaining why I was late to work ... thankfully I have an understanding boss!

2 attempts are good, I wouldn't go past 3 attempts at a time. You will get there. Sometimes it's easier not to use the Lancet device. The click can scare kitties.

Will definitely try the lancet without the pen tonight. And I'll shut the door to the bedroom so she can't scurry off.
