Ok, I am home after 2 weeks for family emergency. Hubby has been doing Sam's shots, sorry no numbers yet. Sam has appt this Monday. He us completely switched to wet food and loves it, new freeze dried snacks which I saw recommended . He does seem to pee alot, not sure if it's normal since wet food in its names will provide more fluids. Looking for some feedback. He acting much more like himself, coming to bed, running around house etc. Thanks for support

I'm glad you are back Melanie, too bad that you had to be away dealing with an additional stressful situation. I'm glad Sam is doing better, and liking the Fancy Feast and snack foods. I will be interested to see the BG numbers, when you get them via home testing. Transitioning to wet food should have had an effect on his BG levels and we definitely need to see how high and low he is going in his cycles. Idjit went into remission with only one month of insulin support and change of diet, no promises, but it's possible. The testing is going to let you know, and keep him safe from a hypo. Do you have your testing equipment and supplies yet?

Gladd to hear you are back and everything seems ok, and he appears to feel better, if he's still peeing a lot, chances are his numbers may be still a little bit high even with the change of food you'll need to start testing to see what's going on and to keep him safe

I'm sure you are very happy to be back home, and more than likely the rest of the family is happy also, including Sammie. If you are unsure about what equipment and supplies you will need for home testing don't hesitate to post and ask. Many here use the Relion Confirm or Micro from Walmart, because it's very affordable, the strips are affordable and available.

You'll want to get some numbers and see where he's at at the lowest point of the day. Frequent urination is a symptom of hyperglycemia. It's the cat's body way of getting rid of excess glucose. So if his numbers have been high he's going to pee a lot. His behavior returning to normal is a good sign though. Is he putting his weight back on as well?
