Happy Friday everyone. Whew! What a week! From bacon grease to ultrasounds to emergency vets, I'm very happy to see Friday. Grandpa seems to agree.

Now that his tummy feels better, he's appointed himself official taste tester of the house and has helped himself to samples of everyone's lunches and dinners for the past couple of days, including mine. While Manwich is not likely on his ideal diet, we've learned to feed everyone else a Grandpa-friendly meal plan. While I adore the old guy, I personally draw the line at Friskies sandwiches.

Thanks to everyone who helped us get through the week! Grandpa's got his dancing shoes on and is ready for some grease-free weekend fun.

You are thanking us? Sometimes I feel like I'm just going through the motions when a strangers cat is sick, it can be emotionally draining.
This is different and I can't really explain why. You have let us into your life and for that I thank you. :bighug:

:joyful: Don't you think you're being just a wee bit selfish?

That Grandpa sure has a lot of charisma.

Lou, I had to read this twice. I thought, "No, this is Grandpa, not Regal." Then I wondered how you knew about Regal. You see, the day we rescued Grandpa we were on a mission to save a sweet girl named Regal. During the rescue, Grandpa followed us from place to place as if saying, "Me too!" We couldn't leave him behind. Best decision ever. Anyway, here's Miss Regal. 20180721_124850.jpg

When the time finally came to go to the shelter for a new cat I took my time and finally picked out a nice shaggy Tomcat but forgot my wallet. On the way back in Elmo was climbing the crate waving his arms (only cat people say arms instead of legs). He was screaming "No no, you're making a mistake. I'm the one for you!". A short hair yellow cat was not in my plans and neither was "Me too" as in two cats. I took Elmo home.
It's true what they say, you don't pick them, they pick you.
You were meant for both Grandpa and Regal.
I still think "Grandpa at the cabin" gets a page in next years calendar. Maybe in the dietary supplement section, "Bacon grease, natures secret". Better than Suzanne Somers and her magic bananas.

Well, well. I could try to tell you I am psychic but you would know I was lying. ;) I just meant he looked regal, royal and a bit haughty, which we know Grandpa could never be. He was meant to be yours and you were meant to be his. Miss Regal is indeed just that. She is absolutely beautiful and ever so charming. You have so much love in your home!! :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:

Magic bananas?? I don't remember that, didn't she have rather large melons? And the thigh cruncher thing?

Absolutely I'm thanking you. You've shared stories that offer hope and let me know that others understand and have been here. Most of all, I appreciate those laugh out loud moments that come at the perfect time. Having a place to share the scary stuff but also to share some fun and the little things that keep me going is terrific!

re Suzanne Somers, this is a bit off track. I appreciate alternatives to western medicine, my chiropractor does wonders for me without selling me magic beans or over-booking me. As far as I remember Suzanne Somers promoted a healthy diet which is fine but is not an alternative to chemo and/or radiation for some nasty cancers. Then she hit the talk show circuit to extend her 5 minutes of fame. We have Oprah to thank for this. (Hey look who's on the cover of Oprah this month, it's Oprah!)
Among other people both Steve McQueen and Steve Jobs were victims of medical Hocus Pocus. We can only guess how many cats have fallen victim to quackery.
This is about Grandpa but in an earlier related post I did mention how we let our misdiagnosed dog "go" and she then lived happily well past her best-before date. She just stopped taking meds for something she didn't have but was well fed, pain free and we kept a careful eye on her.
    My sincere wish is for Grandpa to outlast all the experts opinions and be pain free. No doctor can predict exactly when the end will come and that's why I love all these photos of Grandpa with either one of two captions;
"What are you staring at, I'm fine"
or "Hey, I thought you were sick".
Like in the movie Sleeper it might turn out bacon grease and Big Macs can extend a cats life. Would you like a cigar Grandpa? They're Cuban!
Thus concludes my sleepy Sunday morning rant. Praise be!  o_O

Uh oh. You've done it now. Grandpa just said "See ya later, Mom. I gotta meet up with my new buddy for a stogie and Scotch."
