I am looking to get some input as far as prednisolone replacements.
Pearl is here because of a long term use of prednisolone, and so I'm very reluctant to start her even on a very short-term dose. However she's having another flare-up of EGC and her vet is recommending a two to three day course of prednisolone. ( We are currently at day 5, and it is only slowly improving )

Has anyone here used cyclosporine for other inflammatory/ auto immune issues and had any huge side effects as far as BG or diabetes is concerned? Any thoughts on cyclosporine in general?

    EGC?

My Neko was on budesonide instead of prednisolone for her GI issues. For her, it did not impact her blood sugar.

Leo has been on pred since mid 2017. I get his full blood checked every 3 months. So far, there have been no long term bad effects for him. The pred along with the Leukeran is used to treat his small cell lymphoma (SCL).

My vet was not a fan of cyclosporine...suggested it was more of a last ditch offering for cancer patients. She would use Leukeran first.

So I am assuming it isn't for IBD but for some early stage cancer?

Cyclosporine is used for IBD. Rufus was on Atopica for 1 month, and it was a yo-yo. Either he ate well, or he was so nausuos from it he vomited (which he normally doesn't do. I also beleive it elevated his creantinen numbers.
