Help! At the vet right now. It has been a couple of days on antibiotics to get rid of my babies upper respiratory infection and now he’s feeling much better. And change in food to the wet food and now schedule feeding. His glucose was just checked that day and they said it was at 456 and found it in his urine as well. They wanted us to start insulin right away. But I wanted to wait bc he had no signs before this upper respiratory infection is why we went to the vet. Today I’m at the vet. And it went from 456 last time. To 220 today. I haven’t given any insulin yet to him. But the vet is saying that she knows he’s still diabetic bc it was in his urine. Does anyone know if that’s true??? Or should I just keep up with the diet and see if they keep dropping before doing insulin???

It's a higher than normal number but could be inflated because of vet stress. If you test at home you will know if his numbers go down to normal. If you start insulin I would start with a very small dose. Perhaps less than 1 unit.
