Some of the fleas are definitely newly hatched, but some are bigger so I'm not sure they are. I don't know how fast fleas grow. I've read bombing the house is not guaranteed to kill all of the fleas and I don't really have anywhere to take my cats. Also, you need to clean everything afterwards. I'd rather not do it if I can avoid it.

Thanks, I'll check out the link later. Most things I've read about that kill fleas on the cat only last 24 hours.

:bighug: I completely understand. I sympathize so much. I hope you find something that will work. Like I said, I have only used the Adams dip in a pump sprayer and the DE. Adams has always been my go to for all pests for inside the house.

I also don't know if it is safe to give something else since it hasn't been a month since I gave the last dose of Advantage II.

Sorry to hear about the fleas!! There is a product in Canada I think called Revolution and it works very well, just a drop on the back of the kitties neck a few times a year. I had it for H&D when they were kittens, but being indoor only cats I stopped eons ago. Hope you can get rid of them soon!!

Carla, did you get the advantage through your vet or online?

You really don't have to clean every thing after fogging the house. I don't and I fog every year. Depending on your house set up, you would remove or put in air tight place (dishwasher, frdge) things like tooth brushes, dishes, glasses. open all closets doors, drawers, cabinets etc. The fog has to get to every place. Afterwards just wipe counters and dining table down. Any open boxes of food you put in plastic bag or put in your car. Everything else you leave alone and do what you normally do when you normally do it. You would want to change the bedsheets after. When you go back in house, you pick up animal food bowls (they should be left there) you wash them. That's it. They do work but if infestation is extremely heavy you might have to do it twice. Make sure you buy foggers that do fleas and eggs not all do.

My parents house was infested with tiny flies, gnats or something like that. I mean infested as there wasn't a square inch in the entire house they didn't occupy(the flies that is). Even after 2 foggings back to back there were still some. It was the only way to rid the place of them. It was soooooo bad.

Cats are ok in carriers for the 2 hours. If you have a place outside you can sit and read, sit in car, or go visit someone that won't mind the animals. It's so worth it to get rid of them and be done with it. you have to treat animals at same time.

The reason I was asking was if it was through the vet you could call them and tell them it's not working. Not sure about online if they have a 1-800 number to call and explain the situation. It should have killed any flees that the kitties have on them by now. Paula's idea about a bomb is a good one if you can all leave the house for a while. I wish I could just driver over there and help you. :bighug:

It worked for the first week. It's supposed to last for a month and keep killing any new fleas, but it's not. Thanks for the suggestion.

I'm confused on using the DE and running the vacuum. Should I just put the DE down and let it work or vacuum and keep putting DE back down? Thanks for any suggestions.

Carla, I would put it down mainly along the baseboards and vaccume it up and reapply once a week . When I put it under cushions I left it there . Some is still there :woot:

Ugh, what a hassle with these fleas. Vines for you all to be flea-free.

When your month of Advantage is up, try switching to FrontLine Plus. A change in product/formula might help.
Carla, I feel so bad for what you are going through. I hope you can break the cycle soon. I would be reluctant to use pesticides that get all over everything, too, but I guess you have to weigh the pros and cons. Perhaps you need to hire a professional exterminator? Does your vet have any suggestions?
Nice to see Furball in yellow.

The vet didn't give me any suggestions. They just said I needed to get the fleas under control since they gave MC anemia. Not very helpful. I will probably switch from Advantage II to something else. Thanks for the suggestion.
