Ok so I finally got my meter to do testing at home. I just did it a half hour ago. He’s at 119. I usually give him 2 units of Lantus. He hasn’t had any in two full days because it seems he feels miserable during the day. He’s been totally off dry food for 3 days!
I will go back to Lantus thread.Im just really excited I didn’t give up.He has been acting so much better. Hasn’t hidden once in two days. Not sure what to do now. Hes waiting to eat..❤️

Hope you can get your Spreadsheet posted soon - so we can all see what's going on with this BG - not sure how long he's been on Lantus - but 2 u is a lot to start - need more details about his weight, etc. You mentioned 'usually give him' - how long has he been on Lantus? How long off dry food? Sometimes just the diet change alone will bring those high numbers way down!

Is this your first post? If so WELCOME! Lots to learn here...I've been kinda crazy busy lately so apologies if it's not...but congrats on your first test at home! That's the number one best thing you can do for your furbaby! Test, test, and more testing!

Try to read the 'Stickies' at the top of the Lantus forum to see which protocol you think you'd like to follow.

One thing about him not feeling good during the day - might be too much insulin causing his blood sugar to fall too much - will make them lethargic...so more testing would be an excellent idea! :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:

Ty so much! I’ve been going back snd for with him for over 2 years poor boy. I’m working on spreadsheet now. My threads have been all over the place‍♀️as I would post in an emergency and he’s been to atleast 6 vets. Very frustrating, especially when the best advice has always been on here..
He was on Prozinc for a long time and a new vet just switched him a couple months ago, no bw nothing, they were really busy in the office that day and rushed me out. He ended up having an infection when I took him somewhere else a week later. I literally went to have him put down atleast 3 times I felt so horrible. He has even oded. Ok so I will work on SS now. Ty ty ty. If you can see me other threads of mine , boy it’s been hell.

Congratulations on getting your first test!!! Keep testing and it will get easier. Once you have more tests in your spreadsheet the experienced people will be able to help you.

Just removing the dry food 3 days ago has improved his glucoses. I would hesitate giving 2 units until you are testing regularly AND your ss is up and running..
