3 yrs.,7 mos.& 12 days of dancing & Menace is at the Falls!

It's been a long dance.... sometimes a waltz and sometimes a quickstep and we took the long route! We had some obstacles, frustrations along the way and the odds seemed to be stacked against us but Menace is now in remission!

I never imagined this day coming given Menace's diagnosis at 4 1/3 yrs old, her kibble addiction until 2 plus years into our FD journey (no low carb dry food available in Canada) and the diagnosis of IAA on top of the diabetes! I really thought the chance of remission had long passed us by.

For the longest time, Menace's spreadsheet was a wash of blue and yellow with the odd splatters of green. Suddenly this past June, it was like someone flipped a switch. There was more and more green showing up on her spreadsheet and with that came a lot more sleepless nights. I had, with info from this forum, found the courage to comfortably shoot up to 16 units of insulin twice a day but now with a sea of green on her spreadsheet, I found the quickly diminishing doses/ low normal BG levels were a whole new ball game. It was yet another new learning experience even for a " veteran" of the FD dance but a necessary one to bring the FD beast to its knees!

Needless to say I am gobsmacked that we beat the odds. I shed tears when Menace was diagnosed and again last night after that last OTJ trial period PMBG but this time they were tears of jubilation! NEVER GIVE UP HOPE! It could happen to you too!

I have been MIA for ages and I've missed this community more than you will ever know. I can't believe it's been almost a year but life sometimes throws us curves. This past year has indeed been a ride I won't soon forget for many reasons but today will stand out as one of the best days of my life and I had to share it with you. This community was what gave me the strength, courage, knowledge and support I needed to get us here and I'm hoping our story will give others hope no matter how long or challenging the road. Without this wonderful resource and the unbelievably loving community here, this miracle would not have been realized. Thank you FDMB from the bottom of our hearts.

Wahooo!!! What wonderful news!!! While we have not been dancing quite as long, it's been over a year and I've long since given up any hope of getting Lou off his insulin. Stories like yours are extra fantastic to hear, because it gives a gal a glimmer of hope again, especially considering Lou's an IAA kitty as well. Regardless, I am soo excited and happy for you both!! Many congratulations to you and Menace! May you enjoy your life at the falls!!

That is wonderful...Congrats! I am new to this forum with Baby, recently diagnosed, and probably a high dose kitty also (up to 7u BID now), so this is really encouraging! So happy for you!
