Making a new post because I wanted to rewrite what I said before in a way that more reflects my thinking. I also know most of you guys measure bG in mg/dL, so I’ll use that.

Okay, so Lola’s pre-shot values have actually been pretty good for the most part. She averages about 170-190 mg/dL (refer to SS). But when I get midday tests, I’m not seeing any effect - today her AMPS was 187 and her +6 was 196, and yesterday her AMPS was 194 and her +6 was also 194. She’s taking 0.75 units of ProZinc insulin. I know it’s not fur shots or poor absorption because I changed the injection site this morning and double-checked that the needle went into her skin before I injected.

The midday tests have been inconsistent before. For example, on September 8th, her AMPS was 211, and her +6 was 187, which isn’t much of a difference I don’t think. But then the next day, on September 9th, her PMPS was 167 and I got a +3 (before I went to bed) of 110, which I thought was great.

I’m starting to think that maybe I ought to switch to another insulin such as Lantus in hopes of getting better results. What do you guys think? It’s time for me to order insulin next month anyways. I’ll probably try going up to 1 unit first to see if that helps, and I’m going to get my dad to take some +3 values in case she’s having her nadir early. I don’t have time to do a curve until next weekend, but I think I’ll do a curve with 1 unit to see what happens then.

What do you guys think? Also bear in mind that she’s getting dental work on Wednesday, so I’m not sure if the tooth pain/stress is affecting her sugar. She also has a bit of constipation that I’m going to ask the vet about as mentioned in the other post. Thoughts?

I'm pretty new here and don't use prozinc, but looking at your spreadsheet I see that you don't do many midcycle tests. Testing during the midcycle (3-7 hrs) would give you more data to determine your cat's nadir or lowest bg value. From the limited data you have, I agree that it looks like her nadir could be kind of early at +3 so it's a good idea to test around then. Doing more bg curves and random spot checks of bg would help you figure out the nadir. Remember that the nadir can change from one cycle to the next and every cat is different. I'm sure those with more experience with prozinc will respond also. Good luck and keep testing!

I do agree with Beta Kitty about maybe getting more mid-cycle tests to see if you're missing any lower numbers. But, that aside, your kitty's numbers seem astonishingly consistent overall, and not bad at all. ...There are, I suspect, many here who would just love to see those kinds of BG levels and that consistency...

Regarding the apparently 'flat' (unmoving numbers) though is there any chance that your insulin is old and has lost potency...?
