Many years ago I had two kitties, our boy Madison who was not diabetic and our girl kitty Angel that had been diagnosed with diabetes. This was a long time ago and the vet prescribed insulin that humans used and I used a meter for humans. This was before the internet became a resource for people with diabetic cats. Eventually I lost my Angel and my Madison both around 2005. Now I have two other cats who are both becoming senior kitties. Rocky is the younger one at 12 and seems to be enjoying good health. He is good-matured and tolerant but he's a big boy and loves to eat. Our Buttercup is a 13yo little girl with blue eyes who is very sweet, yet feisty. She was always a "hunter" and would constantly bring toy mice to our bedroom door every night. She was diagnosed with diabetes in July 2018. She started on Vetsulin. We use the PetTest meter.
She also has a heart murmur and had labored breathing in September 2018 which was caused by pleural effusion. The vet drained the fluid and put her on Enalapril and Furosemide. Her insulin and her meds have recently been adjusted down to smaller doses. She has now started having loose stools October 2018. In addition to offering a k/d diet the vet suggested, I am feeding her a bland diet of homemade chicken soup, (lean white meat with the broth).
I am dealing with multiple issues with my kitty these days and am constantly researching what can help her.
Thanks for having this site. I have already found some answers to my questions.

Welcome to the board, and I'm so glad you are already finding some answers here. Tell Buttercup feisty is good! ;)
Since Buttercup has some other things going on, it would be most helpful to have all the pertinent information available when you post. The signature (grey text attached to the bottom of each post) tells each reading/responding member about Buttercup and eliminates the need to ask the same questions. Here is a link on how to do that: SIGNATURE Please be sure to include the medications that Buttercup is on, as well as at least a general geographic location. Sometimes time zones are really important in responses.
It sounds like you already know how important home testing is, I am so very glad to hear that. We use a spreadsheet to record and track the insulin dose/injection time, the BG readings you get , when and how much food is given. This spreadsheet is attached to the signature and is a huge help tracking patterns and determining if a dose can or needs to be changed. Here is a link to that: SPREADSHEET
I suggest you post in the Health (Main) forum with your concerns about the loose stools, it's very possible that other members could offer some insight on diets that would be more beneficial to Buttercup, there are many experienced long time members here who could help.
