Stop bumping 911 threads two weeks after the emergency has passed.
No real need to use all CAPS in a threads title.
(GA) does not stand for Georgia or Go Ahead. It's rarely done but I've seen it.

I'm not a moderator so those are just my thoughts.
    >In advertising and print people respond better to lower case lettering, that's what I meant about all caps.
    >re (GA) It's almost always a simple and honest mistake but people have been caught using it the wrong way. It's for diabetic cats only.
    >Whenever we reply to even the oldest of threads that thread goes back to the top of the list in the forum it was posted in. Members who are sincerely trying to help may see a 911 thread and then have to muddle through 30 posts to see the emergency has long since passed. This is also why you see "bump" in calendar sales, the board wants that thread to stay fresh in peoples thoughts.

Please stop bumping old threads in general. If you're replying to something from an old thread, copy and paste from the old thread into the new one. The exception would be if there isn't a new thread started than the only place to post is in the last known thread.

Just a reminder, using the 911 prefix is reserved for medical emergencies only. When the OP on a 911 thread has received replies or the issue has resolved, please remove the 911 from the thread.
... or in the body of a message. Message board etiquette regards typing in all caps as shouting.

    Amen!

This also applies to the question mark prefix. Yesterday I couldn't tell you how many threads I waded through that had question marks on them only to find out the questions had been answered... and many of them are still there today! I'm sure others did the same. That was time I/we could have spent helping someone else.

We're all volunteers here with commitments, responsibilities, and lives outside of the FDMB. Many of us have only so much time to dedicate to the board. We want to help as many as possible, but often have to leave to do something else. Help us make the most of the time spent here.

Thanks in advance for your understanding and cooperation. :)

While we're here maybe we could talk about PM's, politeness, false expectations and common sense
The PM Sticky was written by Rebecca, August 18, 2010. It doesn't need updating, just repeating and some words of wisdom.
    >I start every new PM the same way. I don't expect a reply, you're not obligated to reply, this doesn't mean we're best friends. Well, something along those lines.
    >I've made some new friends using the PM system and sometimes things just fade away. Don't take it for granted you'll see eye to eye on everything and remember it's not a pen-pal system.
    >You never know who is a good friend of someone else. I can rub people the wrong way and I find some people mildly annoying but the PM system is not a gossip hotline. We're all in the same leaky boat so try and be civil.
    >Like Rebecca said, the board does not have a super-secret way of reading your PM's. End of story. If you've been bullied, made to feel unsafe or abused talk about it with a board member. You have options as far as blocking other members or restricting access to your profile.
    >With regards to personal safety it might be advisable to not use your first and last name in your profile and/or avatar. I see this every day. I'm not proud of this but in another sight someone used only their first name, had an unusual occupation and posted the name of the small city they lived in. Just to see if I could I found that persons online EVERYTHING in less than five minutes. It was a very negative experience. Try and imagine getting a PM from Mister Creepy. As a bonus Google maps pops up if you click on location in someone's profile. My location is Canada, Earth.
Please be careful everyone. I have a harmless but fragile person from my past life who could qualify as a stalker, these things happen.
