A Rusty Anniversary

Hi L&LL Friends,

On this date, 28 November, in 2010 Rusty joined our family. It was a wonderful day and made even more wonderful that night, when this beautiful kitty jumped up on the bed and snuggled down between Edward and me. We miss his physical presence tremendously, but his spirit is very much here with us, and both of us have heard his voice and marveled at the little presents he has bestowed upon us.

Happy Anniversary, Rusty! I know that your pals at the Bridge will celebrate with you. Your beans love you!

I love that he snuggled between the two of you on his very first night as a member of your family.

 

Such a bittersweet anniversary. What an amazing cat, he knew he had the good life right away.

 

He looks like he would be a snuggle bunny! He is no doubt organizing lots of fun things for all the kitties at the Bridge to do. Such a stately boy!

He sure knew that he had found his forever home - love that slept on the bed with you right from the beginning.

 

I always look forward to celebrating Rusty’s anniversary every year, but this year is different, of course. There is the sadness mixed in, but still the joy of celebrating a life full of happiness and love. The bond of love is still there between Rusty, Edward, and you. I’m so glad you feel his presence around you. What a majestic kitty he was. I miss him.

Thank you all! And a special thank you to Rusty's Auntie Linda (@Linda and Bear Man ). She drove the last lap of the DCIN car transport that brought Rusty to his furever home. And she has come to visit him (and us) here every year.

Such a special guy that Rusty'! I just watched the slideshow and loved it so much.
The bond between you three is such a beautiful gift. Love that he made it known he had found his forever home on the first night.

Rusty was a lucky kitty to have found his way to your home and you and Edward were blessed to have him join you.

He was, and still is, a beautiful kitty....both body and soul.

 

Beautiful boy and spirit! I remember when Rusty first came into your and Edward's life. I'm glad you feel his presence around you. I'd love to hear about the little presents Rusty leaves you. Love you Rusty!!

 

He left us a perfectly round little pine cone, just the size of his favorite bell balls. It was next to his toy box at camp one morning in August. It had not been there the previous evening. He left us a penny in his little bed in my study. It was dated 1998. We think he was telling us how old he was (we never knew his age). On several occasions the cap from the toilet bolt has been far from the toilet on the floor of the bathroom: Rusty used to like to play with it. Upon returning from hiking we found one of our ant traps, which had been securely tucked under the ledge of the back door, 12 feet from the house in the exact center of the walkway. There is no way ants or even squirrels could have moved it and placed it so precisely! Occasionally I find a whisker (but house cleaning is not my forte and these may date from before his death).

For those of us who 'believe'....it's just precious... I'm a believer...

 

I'm a believer, too! So precious and so like Rusty. That gave me chills. Thanks for sharing with us. Rusty has left so many signs and will keep doing so I believe. I remember he liked playing with the toilet bolt.

 

Will always remember your sweet porch lion....

 

Felix and I talk about Rusty often.

 

One of my favorite images of Rusty is his playing with the cap from the toilet bolt, so the fact that you found one that had been moved sent chills down my spine. There is no doubt that Rusty is still with you, watching over you.

We miss our LagoonMeister, but we rejoice in his freedom and the obvious joy he has in letting you know he's still there.

 

Happy anniversary! Rusty was so special. He is very much missed.
