    Last known thread ;)

Oh thank god I'm home till January. The new vet visits today and I'm hoping her BG starts to level out again soon…she's really all over the place lately!

House calls are the best! I think we found our fur-ever vet :D
Good lord, spendy, but hopefully worth it.
Dr. Thompson suspects triaditis because of course it can't just be diabetes.
We have been recommended the following:
    • RxZyme: pancreatic support
    • Denamarin: liver support (pending bloodwork)
    • Mirtazapine: appetite stimulant as needed
    • Cerenia: anti-inflammatory and anti-nausea medication
    Sigh…

What are River's symptoms for the vet to say triaditis? That is very hard to diagnose.

Admittedly she said it was an educated guess, but River had a crap ton of bloodwork, an ultrasound, and some other diagnostic stuff done when she was at the emergency hospital — because she is not a textbook diabetes case. It was based on those results, I guess?
Pancreas, intestines, and liver all show some signs of inflammatory issues, and there's your assumed diagnosis.

That's the key word. They diagnosed the same for my GA Tanner, but I didn't change anything other than trying ondansetron when he started to have issues months later. His labs were good so I didn't want to upset the boat, so to speak. He did have pancreatitis, but it was many months before it really affected him.

Yes of course! She has not recommended ANYTHING aggressive in terms of treatment at this point, and said as long as River is looking and feeling good and keeping her weight up (she's gained another pound since she was last at the vet!) we'll just keep an eye on her.
It's important to me just to be aware of what's going on, and also have my eyes wide open in case of a diabetic emergency that demands treatment. If there are more issues at play that will require more aggressive treatment (and, honestly, more money) I will have some decisions to make.

That's what Murphy has - sigh
Murphy is also on ursodiol due to bile duct abnormalities
I have some denamarin I can give you - you have to give on an empty stomach and Murphy, more often than not, vomited the blue pill up. It apparently is fairly common - on ibdkitties.net, they suspect the blue coating of the pill.
Cerenia has been a godsend for Murphy - he used to vomit constantly and since taking it, very very rarely
I am not familiar with RxZyme though. You can get cerenia cheaper through vet mail order pharmacies than through vet's office
