Hi guys so I have increased Sox's dose to 0.9 and he's had 8 cycles on this dose.

My question is could this be too much and the 0.8u is better.
If you look at spread sheet he seemed pretty consistent on 0.8u.
When increased up to 0.9u his numbers seem to bounce around more and not seem as settled.

Could it be he needs a little longer to adapt to dose. Or if may be too much and hes bouncing?

    Thanks every one

It doesn't look like too much to me. In fact, I would suggest another little increase. But if you're more comfortable keeping this dose for a couple more days, you can. Or if you want to try the reduction and see what happens, that's fine too. It doesn't look like bouncing to me because you are getting nice smile shaped curves. Bouncing usually shows either sharp drops and rises, or high flat cycles. When there is a clear smile to the curve - it's usually a pretty true response.

Okie dokie just thought I'd ask the question as he seemed quiet settled to me on the 0.8u like been in the blues on the pmps test and yellows in the morning. Where as were getting pinks again now.
But again it's all new to me so still getting to grips with how it all reacts. :D

Yes, and we never really know until we try something and see what happens. That's why I said that any of the three options are really fine right now for Sox (increase, decrease, or hold). Since it's all within the "fine tuning" area, you aren't going to hurt anything - whichever option you try.

    That's a low-ish PS. You could:
    • Stall for 30 minutes without feeding to see if he's on the upswing. If he is, try 0.75 u.
    • Give 0.75 u now and get a +2 for sure. Be prepared to steer with food.
    • Drop to a fat 0.6 u if you're using U100 syringes, a fat 0.5 u if you're using U40s.

@Kris & Teasel stalling is a little awkward with the times been pretty strict in the morning.

May be an odd question how do you do a fat 0.6u  lol

Are you using U100 syringes? If you are find the line that corresponds to a 0.6 u dose - the 1.5 mark. Draw up the insulin and then expel the excess until the flat top of the plunger is *just* touching the bottom of the black 0.6 u line (the .5 of the 1.5 mark). That's assuming that you'd use the very middle or even top of that 0.6 u liner if you wanted a true 0.6 u dose. Make sense?

If using U40s with half unit marks, draw up a fat 0.5 u using the same technique at the o.5 u line.

Yeah I think so lol. Just trying to decide whether to go 0.5u or 0.6u I've got both lots of needles at the moment that I can use

I don't think the result at 0.5 u versus 0.6 u would be very different. Good for data though!

I've give 0.6u so will see how we get on with that. Had quiet a good curve today but seem like I have to keep going up and down with dose is that quiet normal?

That's good then. So as we get further along with his treatment I should get used to patterns and know the doses as and when he needs something different?

I'll echo Kris on the "very normal" comment. Going up and down is how this dance goes. Look through some of our spreadsheets and you'll see how the dose moves around over time.

Yikes on that food spike tonight. :blackeye: Come on, Sox. You can do better than that! ;)

Morning Becki! Sorry I saw your tag yesterday but I also saw Kris had already answered...and it was one of those days where I was so exhausted from work that typing felt too hard! :joyful:

I feel you. I know what those days are like.
We seem to have returned to normal this morning. So have given his 0.9u like usual
