my kitty hasn't been eating much since his insulin started. My prescription bottle of entyce arrived in the mail today and I gave him his first dose and he immediately started salivating like crazy. he has stopped salivating now but seems generally miserable. Can't get him to purr which has never been a problem before. I am at such a loss as to what to do that is best for him and I feel so helpless! It's only been a few days but insulin doesn't seem to be working, entyce makes him feel worse, most wet foods I have tried he won't touch, and he's just eating less in general now which is very worrisome. I'm beginning to feel like I'm making him sicker. Did anybody else feel this way at first?

Don't fret - yes many of us felt that way at first. But stop and think - he's been sick for a long time, his body functions are haywire, he feels like poop. I can't help with the Entyce as I've not used it. Does it have any citrus in it by chance? That makes a cat froth at the mouth.

It takes a while for his body to acclimate to having insulin again even if it comes from a shot. His liver is really confused, probably secreting sugar like crazy to deal with the sudden change.

Try sprinkling crushed treats on top of food, parmesean cheese (Dakota LOVES that), give him boiled chicken, Stage 2 baby food meat with no onions or garlic (I use Beechnut).

HUGS - it WILL improve, it just takes time. He didn't become diabetic overnight, he's not going to feel better overnight either...

Thank you. Reading this made me cry.I have never been the most patient person and I hate to see him feeling so miserable so I guess I just wish he would start feeling better more quickly!

Thank you - i had seen that salivation was am uncommon side effect. My vet thinks i should discontinue. It did seem to help his appetite once the awful side effects wore off. I am conflicted as to what I should do. Thinking of putting a dose in a capsule and seeing how he responds to that.

Frosty was on Entyse for a few weeks at the end. It did help him with his appetite in my opinion, but he did smack his lips and try to spit it out when I gave it. My guess is it tastes bad. This didn’t last for more than a few minutes so it didn’t stop us from using it. It does take a few days to kick in and take full effect, so I would try to use it for a week or so to see if you notice a difference. Hope it works for you guys :bighug:
