    Yesterday Caber 74

Dosecrease on board. Will see where it takes us. To many changes , increase in bupre, gab added back in. Don't know whether we are coming or going.

Trees still encased in ice. Windy. Snowing. Lots of branches cracking and falling. Yard looks like a war zone.

Good luck with the dosecrease. I hope Olive settles into some better numbers for you. I hope you don't have to go out today.

Good luck with the new dose!
Yup, it's difficult juggling dose changes and med changes.

So I just used last of my micro strips. Now using Nova Max meter since I have 400 strips. Guess I have to get use to the higher numbers it gives, I see more dosecrease in very near future. It is very close to the AT though.

I also noticed that Nova Max runs higher. Maybe that is a better option than the Prime since it would give more accurate numbers. I just like the flexibility of being able to run to Walmart and pick up strips when I mess up and run low. Plus Prime strips are just so cheap.

Hope you get all the changes sorted out and Olive back on track.

The Prime requires bigger blood drop. Olive doesn't bleed to well and rarely from one ear. Since I had NM figured I would use it since the micro is sold anymore. I don't like how bulky the NM is though. Maybe it will get better.

The +7 surprised me today. That's pretty good if the NM does run higher as it did +4.

    Wow, Olive! Nice drop!

So, if the NM is running that much higher than the Confirm, what number will you be using as your cutoff for low numbers intervention? Would you use Alphatrak 67 or the human meter 50? I know the difference is usually bigger in the higher numbers than in the lower numbers so the difference may only be 10-15 points, but still maybe something to think about and be prepared for.

Bailey has been fussing more during tests and even at shot time. Very faint little meows to voice her displeasure, but I suspect those faint meows will grow stronger as this sugar dance continues. I may have no choice but to switch to a meter with a smaller drop. I'll cross that bridge when I come to it, I guess.

    Nice to see green. :D

Have you thought about ordering the Glucocard 01 strips? ADW has one of their packages where you get a meter for free with strips. It’s basically the same as the Relion.

I would stick with the meter numbers at face value, it could be the NM reads higher at high numbers, like some meters do. I tried the Bayer Contour for a while and it was the same, but very close in lower numbers. It too had a bigger blood drop requirement so it was only for emergencies,

Nice jump into the lagoon... especially with all of the med changes and the new meter. Obviously, something is working well for her.

I just have to chime in...I went thru several different meters - trying to replace my Relion Confirm - since there were no more strips in the stores...and tested quite a few - I finally settled on the One Drop - the subscription provides unlimited strips for $49.99 a month - and I order 300 at a time - so I never have to worry about running out. And I LOVE the tiny drop it requires. I found the Prime needed way too much...didn't care for that. It did also appear in my tests that the One Drop (OD) seemed to run a bit higher than the Relion Confirm - so I tested them side by side and with several others - concluded that perhaps the Confirm was giving me lower numbers than were truthful...I'd been reducing her dosage prematurely...and I discovered this information by ordering an Advocate Pet Meter - and the OD came in closer to the Pet Meter than to the Confirm every time...so I felt that I could trust the OD more than the Relion Confirm...

So that's my story and I'm sticking to it. I hope you settle on one that works best for you. I also LOVE not having to go to the store every time I use up my next to the last, to the last box of strips - I never let my strips supply get below 200 - never know with weather, illness, etc. when I might not be able to make that Walmart run....:D:D

And congrats to Olive for throwing out a pickle today :) Lovely!:bighug::bighug:

Any questions on whether this is for a human or a cat? I was considering switching in the near future after seeing how many strips I actually go through, but I wanted to check with you on that first.

Of course, Walmart just lost my order and sent a replacement order. Then the original order came so I have a lot of strips right now. Plus, I'll probably try to use the Novamax strips I have on hand before making the switch.

I agree with Wendy that you should order the Glucocard 01 from ADW: https://www.adwdiabetes.com/product/4045/arkray-glucocard-01-blood-glucose-monitoring-kit.
I used the Arkray Glucocard 01 for 8 years with Rusty and never had a problem with it, or with the strips. The Relion Confirm is actually Walmart's "brand name" for the Arkray Glucocard 01. I always ordered the package of 200 strips with a free meter kit (which contains 10 more strips). It costs about $72.

You are certainly having awful weather down there! I hate it when trees get so coated with ice that their branches break off.

Good luck with balancing Olive's meds.

    Hugs and scritches,

    @Rosie & Bailey @Wendy&Neko @Sue and Luci @Ella & Rusty & Stu(GA) ,

I'm using the Nova Max because I already had 400 strips. The strips are $13 for 50 ct. $1 less than the arkray strips right now. Since I have the AT also I think I'm covered for meters. Oh and I have a one touch too. But never use it.

I'm taking the number at face value. Not even going to try to compare. Since I don't have micro strips there is nothing to compare. I will keep my reducie number at 60 for now. Don't think I will have to worry about it for awhile.

The weather has been horrible. The wind makes it bitter cold. Suppose to be 50 tomorrow or Thursday then snow Thursday night and Friday, it's crazy.
