Does anyone know if there is significant difference in the FF Classic Pate's for adult cats versus their Kitten types? Is it just the vitamins/amounts, maybe? They look pretty much the same by the label information.

We have Lamborghini who is low-level diabetic, being controlled just by switching him to the FF. He is 12. We have Ferrari, also 12, who has decided she can eat the FF after all (only she wants Lambors' bowl and he wants hers, and he needs to eat more than her because he's bigger, but she walks away and he eats it all....argh!)

Then we now have Maggie who is 8 months and very skinny and undersized for her age (if the rescue got it right), who's poop gets really really stinky (like deadly) if she gets chicken flavor. And as of yesterday, we have Mittens who is about 6 months old. Kittens are getting FF Kitten classic pates, plus unlimited dry food, Tiki Cat Fish Luau so that IF Lamborghini gets to it, it isn't the worst thing in the world for him. (Mittens is being converted over from something cheap and colorful, maybe Meow Mix? then sent a little tub of it along with her, we only got her yesterday, unintended but now necessary.)

It would make life so much easier if we could just feed everyone the same food, and not have cans for the big cats and cans for the kittens, and labelled baggies with partial cans piled in the fridge because they get 1/2-3/4 can per meal, four meals per day, depending on size, weight, and age of cat.

Tried chatting with Purina customer service, after 42 minutes mostly waiting I was told she would have to have someone email me, and, of course, they never did. Just sent them an email request for the info. But wondering if perhaps someone here might know the difference between these foods, if any?

Hubby, who is very patient with all our pet acquisitions, is losing his mind over all this cat food flavor nonsense.

I bought some FF and compared it to off the shelf wet purina and 9lives cat food and the cats seem not to notice one from the other and the cost is 2-3 times as much.. Protein is the same percentage... What am I missing? Just marketing is all as much as I can tell. No one lists carbs and first 4 ingredients seem to be the same mostly. Left over's that humans won't buy or or not OK'ed for human consumption. Dunno.. The worse it smells the better cats like it!

so it looks like there's really very little difference, only a few nutrients are significantly different, aside from the protein levels A few vitamins and amino acids are different enough to take note, but I'd bet the higher protein level of the food we've already switched to because of the diabetes has that covered.

The only ingredient I see listed in the kitten food that is not in the adult food (comparing similar flavors) is egg. And I can certainly scramble a plain egg and give them a little bit of that. I could see how an egg would contain a bit more of various nutrients than fish or chicken.

The kitten FF cans cost the same as the adult FF cans, so that's not a deciding factor. It's the part where we have different ages, weights, health, and likes all going on at once, and we are losing mental cohesion over it.

i fed my two youngest ones regular fancy feast pates, they didn't do well on the kitten version of it or any kitten food brand for that matter, too rich for them. anyhows they ate non-kitten version since 4 1/2 mths old until last month when i switched them over to sheba pates (they ate freeze-dried raw food before they turned 4mths), they are now 18 mths and grew up into wild energetic healthy four legged creatures just fine.. in the end kitten food is just richer food with maybe more protein in some brands and have slightly more minerals & vitamins for proper growth but, from what i gather after reading some research articles/etc., the majority of kitten foods are just propaganda for humans, basically done so by the pet food companies to make more $$ off of us.. your kittens will be fine eating non-kitten fancy feast, if you are worried they will not get all the minerals & vitamins they need for proper growth, you can always add a supplement to their diet. personally i just gave my two about 2oz of their favorite drink/food ever (kmr liquid milk) pretty much every day until they were like 6mths or so, just incase..

I emailed FF customer service on Monday asking if there was significant difference between kitten and adult formulations, as we were going nuts feeding the different age cats in the house. Got the auto-reply saying they'd get back to me as soon as possible. It's four days later, and still no reply. Sooooo......I'm guessing that, just as the general ingredients and info on the cans indicate, there really isn't much difference. So once we use up the kitten cans, I think we will just feed them all the same. Except for the kitten who seems to get really, insanely. stinky poop on chicken. No chicken flavors for her.

The FF classic pate cans nutritional information shows them to be pretty much identical. Probably because it is already a high protein, low-carb formulation.
