I'm at work and not sure how long I can stay on. Are you able to monitor today and do you have supplies and HC food and karo/honey?
69 is a safe number to shoot as long as you can monitor. A lot of the time when you shoot low the cat surfs and doesn't drop a lot. Of course Little could keep going down since she is coming down from the pink last night. When you shoot, you should get a +1 and a +2 to see what she's doing. I'd keep the same dose and let her earn the reduction. Are you doing TR?
With TR Little will earn a reduction when she goes under 50. I'd go ahead and shoot since you are home to monitor.
Ok I guess this is where the difference between Lantus and Prozinc kicks in ... scary to shoot on 69...
There should be some time when the food kicks in that keeps the numbers from going down more. That's where the +1 and +2 come in. If the number is about the same or lower, you'll need to monitor more.
Thank you Carla. I’ve been in crisis before so I know what to do.. just anxiety... thanks for helping. I couldn’t do any of this without this board.
How is it going? I want to double-check.. are you using a human or pet meter? It shows a pet meter in your signature.
Thanks for letting me know. I did not read further in the signature. Sorry. I'll check back in 30 minutes.
Thinking of you Lisa. Hopefully Little got her eat on & the numbers are in place where you feel better!
Thanks all. Good thing is no matter what the number she always gets her eat on... she begged and cried for food the entire 30 minute stall !
+2 is 133 but typically little has shown to start reacting to a dose at +3 or +4 so I’m drinking my pepto bismol and waiting... too early for a drink!
May I suggest a little housecleaning on the SS? In the AMPS cell, write 69 @+12, shot 64 @+12.5. Then it's all on one row.
I had one like that years ago! Double edged sword for sure. Helpful because you have more control in situations like these but also tough because they want to eat all the time!
Yep, she's bouncing now. Grab another test later in the cycle for data. If still higher, then take a break until PMPS.
@Carla, @Mandy & Rex & @linda Trying to learn through others so seeing this situation with Little, I wanted ask about the bounce. If you factor in the 20% "variance" that was mentioned on an old thread here, that 225 could actually be 180 which then would be blue & not too far off from that 157 vs a yellow & not such a concern as far as bouncing? Again, trying to understand
Yes Amy you are correct. One test could have read high while another low within the allowed variance range so there are times when a bounce might look far more intense than it really is. While we all hate seeing bounces, they are just a part of the journey that we just have to ride out. Some kitties bounce more than others but usually with time, it calms down.
Right. I do view cycles as a whole so I'm taking into consideration the 64 when I look at the 225. The more I thought about it, I think it would be a good idea to grab a +11 before PMPS, just so you know if Little is going up or down at PMPS.
Thank you Mandy. I really like the "view cycles as a whole"....& then I guess look at groups of cycles which should paint an even better picture of what is happening. Sorry if I hi jacked your thread Lisa!! I appreciate the opportunity to ask questions with these specific situations. VERY helpful
All good. We are all here to learn. I was hoping to make +11 my PMPS to get back on schedule with the stall this morning ... I will get a +8 or 9. Thank you all for watching this thread today it means a lot to have support - especially when shooting on a green. Never even THOUGHT about doing that on PZI.
288!! I have a regular Mary Lou retton on my hands today! Assuming she’s up here somewhere at PMPS do I keep same dose?
If that 64 is anything like she behaved on PZI I hope it’s not a one off Fingers toes and eyes crossed that we see the bounce clear and back to green in a few cycles ...usually takes her 3 or 4 to get off the trampoline ..
So +8 was 288 and 11.5 which used as as PMPS was 296 so typical flat line bounce. Held at 2.25 or as close as I can get with pesky air bubble at the top!! Thank you all for guiding me today. I have a feeling I’ll be up tonight unless +4 or 5 is still flat. When I saw the 109 last night I set my alarm for an hour and a half later for another reading but must have slept through. Wish I had the data so if tonight is a repeat performance I’ll be up. I have a feeling I’m in for a day or 2 of pancake flat though. Again many thanks to all. Xoxoxo
Thank you. Wish we didn’t go so high i feel like this is PZI all over again just without the crashes so I guess I’ll be positive.
