Felix started running VERY high BG one and a half weeks ago. 800 plus. Took him to vet for check and blood work. Thought Prozinc went bad or it no longer worked for him. Switched him to Lantus. 1.5 twice a day. Lowest reading in 5 days since starting Lantus 435. Mostly in 6 to 700 range. Anyone have any ideas. Vet suggested the other day insulin resistance?

Did your vet do a full blood work check and does he need a dental? An infection or bad teeth can cause higher glucose levels. Also do you have a current spreadsheet? The one in your signature does not have any current readings.

    Hi Ron,

I peeked at your SS and see it hasn't been updated since 2017. If you could maybe update with the last few weeks info on Prozinc, then add the Lantus info as well, along with making it clear when you switched? People really rely on the SS and its data in order to see how cats are responding to insulin, and this will help you get more help :)

Also, if you could, please ensure that your signature is up to date with regards to food, insulin, and any medical conditions.

Did the exam or bloodwork show anything of concern? There's a tab in your SS you can add the info to, if you like.

How has Felix been otherwise? Attitude, appetite, etc?

I hope we can help you get Felix sorted out!

    With love, Nikki

Although the data on the SS is old, it looks like the dose of ProZinc may have been higher than the Lantus you are now giving. Maybe the dose of ProZinc had been decreased over time but I think it's a bit premature to be thinking insulin resistance at this point. Generally when you switch from ProZinc to Lantus you would maintain the same dose with the Lantus and work from there. Is that what was done or did the vet have you start over from scratch?
