    Kathy, you might get more attention and response if you change your thread title to ask the question about dosing while with a pet sitter. I believe others have been advised to use a "safe" dose depending on what kind of testing data you have.

    Your signature does not reflect what dose of Prozinc Mittens is on, your spreadsheet is only a template and has not been set up. Are you using the ReliOn Prime or the AlphaTrak2 meter. You don't want to be testing with both and plug in BG test results on the spreadsheet. Choose one meter and use the correct template for the meter you are using.

    I suggest you flesh out your signature with this information:
    kitty's name/age/date of diabetes diagnosis/insulin you're using and dosage amount/glucose meter you're using/what (s)he eats/any other meds or health issues (s)he has. You can add your name, and a geographic location (sometimes the country/time zone matters) Be sure to SAVE when you are finished.

    I would delete the spreadsheet link from your signature and set up a new SS from these instructions:
    http://www.felinediabetes.com/FDMB/threads/fdmb-spreadsheet-instructions.130337/

    This is the spreadsheet we use here and are familiar with reading.
    If you aren't able to set it up yourself, let us know, there are 2 members here who can set it up for you.

    I went back through your previous threads and noted that you had a bit of trouble with the signature. Just put in the basic info, with slashes between the name, dx date etc. and you can create a name for the spreadsheet like Mitten's SS instead of taking up so much space with the whole link. Again, if you have trouble, holler and someone can help.

    We also need to know what kind of food Mittens is eating, what brand of dry, how much, what brand of wet, how much? Are you trying to transition Mittens completely off dry to an all wet low carb canned food? Moving to an all low carb wet diet is going to lower the BG and you need to be testing to see how that is affecting her.

    The link hopefully will work now, she goes for a curve at rhe vet b4 i go away so i may ask the vet. Id rather just not do it if my sitter isnt willing to test because last few mornings shes been low.

    Ok, Kathy, I see the testing data on the spreadsheet..I think I wasn't careful enough about choosing the right tab..my apologies.

    I am tagging someone who can take a look and advise
    @MrWorfMen's Mom

    I am also tagging those members who can help with the signature and spreadsheet link so we can see Mitten's info.
    @Marje and Gracie
    @Chris & China (GA)

    The space allowed for the signature info has changed and you are not the first to have these issues.

    Hi Kathy, I can see the spreadsheet but the dates don't appear to be current readings. Without current information to look at it's impossible to offer any options/suggestions especially when you've indicated the last few mornings BG has been low. If you could fill in some current info for at least the last week and preferably 2 weeks, then we'd be more than happy to have a peak and provide options. Have you confirmed whether the sitter will test or not? You seemed unsure and whether testing will be done or not is really crucial to determining the safest options.

    I see your info! I think the dates are just messed up and that caused confusion. Looks like they have '10' rather than '9' for the month. :)

    You have no mid cycle tests during the expected nadir (peak insulin action) timeframe of +4 to +7 hours post shot. Dosing based strictly on pre-shot readings is not safe and not recommended. I would strongly suggest you get random tests in that mid cycle expected peak action period whenever possible. You also have no readings for the night cycles and many if not most cats go lower at night than they do during the day. Getting a minimum of a before bed test can help provide clues as to what's happening to BG overnight. The missed shots, changing dose, and lack of mid cycle/night data makes it hard to know what a safe dose without testing would be.

    Am I correct to assume that any readings where it does NOT say "Relion Prime" were taken with the AT2 meter or did you switch exclusively to the Relion Prime as of the Sept. 10th and the readings up Sept. 9th inclusive were all done with the AT2 meter?
    Does Mittens have any history of ketones or DKA?

    I cant get thoes readings as she dissapers she is an indoor outdoor cat. She goes for a cerve at the vet on 18th thia will be #3. that is correct i switched over on sept 10 because i cant afford the other strips.

    My vet also advised me not to test her at all just to give her the shots. But i am not comfortable doing that. As i belive she was hypo one night she wouldnt eat acting weird ect

    Sad to say but many vets don't tell people to test or worse actually discourage it. It may be because they think a lot of people will think its too much work or it could be they don't want to trust the caregiver to start making dosing decisions on their own. Either way, it's a dangerous practice that doesn't promote regulation or better yet, remission.

    Testing mid cycle to see how low BG is going on a dose is the only way to keep kitty safe and avoid hypoglycemic events which can be fatal.
    If you think Mittens was hypo, what dose did you give prior to that occurrence?

    I will be off the board for several hours so will check back in later tonight.

    On other note. Curves done at the vet's office usually don't provide a realistic picture of what BG is like at home. Most cats are stressed at the vet which can result in BG being elevated by 100 or more points. This can lead to overdosing and hypo events. Better to do the curves yourself at home or just get those mid cycle tests randomly in the expected lowest period whenever possible and then show those numbers to the vet. They often tell a different story than a vet curve.

    She had 2u that morning and i didn't know better so i gave her the 2u agian that night without knowing but gave her caro syrup right after i looked up what could be going on. And thats what im going to explain to my vet when i go next week. That was before i had a meter. The emergency vet wouldnt do anything for her either.

    Welcome to FDMB. The issue with the SS is the template which was “pirated” from our templates by a FB group and modified to suit that group’s need. We really prefer you use our SS and I would be happy to do that for you, transfer the data, and get it linked with the correct link. Because the SS is not ours, it doesn’t have the correct link or other properties ours has that we rely upon.

    You can send me a PM if you’d like me to take care of the SS issue. Just click on “Marje and Gracie” to the left under Gracie’s photo and then “start a conversation”.

    Please know that none of this with the SS is your fault at all.

    There are other members whose cats also go outside but many who have turned their outside cats to inside cats only as long as they are on insulin as it is much safer. If she’s outside and you can’t get some midcycle tests so we know how low she’s going, it’s going to be a bit of a challenge to give you the very best advice. As Linda said, some nighttime tests help. Even though she’s on PZ, which differs from Lantus, I’d still suggest a +2 and a before bed test and go from there. Does she always go out at night, too?

    If you are testing st home and can get in a curve at least once a week, testing every two hours for a cycle, then it would save you $$ at the vet for tests that really won’t show you much. And it’s less stress for her. In addition, if she’s bouncing on curve day and the vet sees this, he/she will invariably tell you to raise the dose which is not the solution.

    Kathy, Marje offered to set the SS up for you AND transfer the data you have collected. All you need do is send Marje a PM. To do that, just click on her avatar and click on "start a conversation". Just title your message "Spreadsheet help for Mittens" or something similar. :)

    I can very easily transfer it for you. There are a lot of reasons why it’s best to use our SS. I’m happy to handle it all for you if you send me a PM. It will literally take me less than five minutes once I get some info from you via PM.
