What’s the best litter for a long-haired kitty prone to the dreaded “cement paws”? Tidy Cats sifts and clumps great, but is the reason for the painful paws. I’ve tried the recycled newspaper pellets and while he’s using the litter and there are no tracking issues with the pellets, he’s not burying his waste with it, and last night he stepped in the poo, and we had a terrible mess. What has been a good litter for our sugar kitties?

think they make shredded paper litter still, it stunk to me though.
if you can handle litter tracking, the best ever litter to me is so phresh unscented grass seed litter. all of our 10 cats like it and no more cement paws or cemented litter box walls. its pricey but, 20lbs is really like 40lbs of clay litter and it never needs to be dumped out. we have 3 giant petmate litter pans and after initial fill up (2 bags total for all 3), we use on average 1 - 1.5 bag/s a week with daily clean up and when no bad food poop issues are present.. no dust whatsoever either...perfect litter except that it tracks kinda horribly so huge honeycomb mats our needed but, its worth dealing with to me.
