Good morning, hope everyone is well. :)

Alice has extremely foul-smelling poops. They are really bad and these days they go straight out of the house because of that.
Someone said something to me that got me considering maybe she needs an adjustment to her microbiome—gut bacteria, probiotics, that jazz. Eventually I will change her diet to something homemade with a novel protein and see if that helps her too. But for now... any thoughts on probiotics?
I remember a few years ago one of my vets giving me some powdered packets with extra nutrients and probiotics that you just sprinkled on to things, when I was trying to help a different cat with something... I can’t remember the name, and I didn’t know the efficacy of it really.... we don’t want to waste the little bit of money that we have.

It’s just that it IS really foul. Every time now.

Yuck. :arghh: This is me still smelling it in my bedroom after it went outside. Saaaave meeee!

Forti Flora is a probiotic that might help you and Alice through this time.

Is it prescription or not, and where is it usually available? Thanks! :)

Also Alice is going to have to ask grandma to look at times feeders for Christmas, we think. Recommendations anyone? Pros or cons of any particular type? I’m not one for researching purchases. I find it tedious and hard on my ADHD brain, but it would be good to know if some type is awful or not.

    Good morning Cassandra,:)

Ducia's foulest poo was when she was on Friskies. Does Alice eats it? That could be an explanation.
Ever since we started to feed 40%-60% home made foods her poo become significantly less stinky. Adding proB helped even better. We used to getting room clearing stench bombs from time to time but I can hardly remember any in a long while.

HERE is the link to what I buy. 1/2 capsule BID mixed with food. There are coupons online from time to time.

Also as a vegetarian you might be not familiar with meats, etc and I saw in the SS that Alice vomited after beef liver snack. Beef in general is well known allergen for (some) cats and I seem to remember reading here that liver was too.

    Hope things improve soon!

Forti-flora isn't prescription and you can buy it on Amazon or Chewy. I have a PetSafe 5 feeder and like it.

Forti Flora isn’t an amazing probiotic. It doesn’t have a lot of bacterial cultures. I use Florastor which has s. Boulardii.

I use FortiFlora more as an appetizer/appetite stimulant :)

That is the feeder I have also, and I like it. I also found Forti-flora at PetSmart if that is a better option for you. My cat doesn't like it, but most cats seem to think it's a treat from what I've seen.
I hope you get this figured out and fixed!!

ETA: ok, Florastor in notes also. Thanks Crista.

I haven’t used a probiotic for the kitties, but I do have the Petsafe 5 feeder several have recommended. $30.00 on Amazon. It’s been very reliable and great when I’m at work.

I use the same probiotic as Tanya in message #5 above and have had great success with it. The PetSafe 5 feeder is reliable and easy to wash. It does make a little bit of noise so you'll need to plan to help the kitty get used to its sounds before you leave it loaded with food. We helped Radar by putting freeze dried chicken in each of the compartments for about a week before we started putting snacks for the day in there.

I use the ReNew Life as a general probiotic. If my cat is having problems with diarrhea, S. boulardii is wonderful!

This is the same right? If so, it’s cheaper on amazon! :)

Yes, that's the same thing. :)
I hope it'll work well for Alice.
