Hi guys Im sorry for all the questions but Im really trying for my kitty to get things right. He lost a lot of weight he was 7 pounds Friday at vets. Im getting ready to weigh him again but I wanted to ask about his feedings. On the Fancy feast Im feeding him three times a day giving the whole can at each feeding with water mixed in. He is peeing and pooping just fine, and is in a 47x38 big dog kennel. This morning he was really demanding his food standing with paws on the kennel meowing. Now with feeding 3 times a day is that enough food for him or is it to much for him? I will be getting him into my regular vet next week to get him started on the insulin shots. I have another question on his blood sugar it was 475, is that a danger zone level? I appreciate all answers and I Thank you for any info and advice.

If he is still hungry, feed him 4 meals a day. Until he starts on insulin, he is not digesting his food as well as he should. He isn't getting all the nutrition from his food. Just try to space any BG tests to after 2 hours after eating. It's good that you are testing. That is so important once you start the insulin. Your a good mama.

Always know, Lorry, you should ask as many questions as you need. That why this board and everyone is here for. To help and be helped.
Once you start with the right dose of insulin, his bg numbers will improve. Keep asking questions.

If he is down to 7 pounds, then extra food is fine right now. Once he starts gaining, you can slowly and easily taper back on how much he gets as he reaches his proper weight, to hold him there at a steady, healthy weight. So if he's demanding more food, or is hungry before his meal times, go ahead and let him have 4 meals a day for now.
