We tested 2 hours ago and she was 6.8 (122), she puked and wouldn't eat. 1.5 hours later she is 1.8 (32) and 1.9 in the other ear. Shes just eaten a full carton of sheba gravy. Should we pull out the glucose gel? We have access to glucose, honey and sugar pills, as well as gravy food.

How long has it been since the food? You have to give it 15-20 minutes (at least) to get into the bloodstream

Is she showing any signs of hypoglycemia?

Yes I would give a couple of drops of honey now as well. Just a couple of drops. You don’t want her to be sick.
Test again in 20 mins from food and post.

She started eating about 15 minutes ago, I instantly fed her as soon as I saw 1.8. I tested her again and she's 2.6 so she is going in the right direction.
She does not seem to be showing any signs of hypoglycemia. She is jumping fine, walking fine. No twitches of any sort.

That’s good. Test again in 20 mins.

Aiden, Kitty has earned a reduction in dose down to 0.5 units. She has dropped 3 times under 50 on 0.75 units... don’t forget you need to reduce if she drops under 50 please.

I was advised on this forum that it's not recommended to reduce because she still had the 1unit depot in her body. But thank you for telling me we can reduce :) She is also a long term diabetic.

    Should we feed more?

OkI didn’t realise she was a long term kitty. I looked but it just says diagnosed in November. Maybe add the year to the signature. long term kitties need to drop under 50 3 times or under 40 once.

If you fed a full carton of food she may be full. How big is the carton? We don’t want to make her sick again. See what the next test is. If it’s still under 50 I would give another teaspoon of food.

The 1.0 unit depot only impacts 4-6 cycles after a reduction. Today is cycle 8. We strongly recommend a reduction for anything below 40.

Good to see Kitty up a bit. Could you update your spreadsheet and the subject line. You don’t need the 911.

85g carton. She is 3.8 now another 20 minutes after the last test.

I would test again in 1 hour. No more food at the moment.

Yes, that was me. I didn't count the 49 on the AM cycle on 2/16 because the 1U was still in play, so there were only 2 "under 50" at that time but today, not only is it the 3rd under 50, it's also under 40 so that's an automatic reduction. (I had also noticed Kitty was a long-term diabetic)

Congrats on the reduction!!....and Kitty....time to come up a little please! That 3.8 looks much better!

Aiden, please be kind enough to remove the 911 from your subject line. It's a red flag to us that a cat is in trouble, and you have eyes on you now and things are under control. You can add it back if Kitty should drop dramatically again. Thanks.

Psst, Kitty: you made your point. Now surf safely, please.

I see +8 has dropped to 52. I would get a +9.. the high carb food has probably worn off

    I removed the 911.

Could you please clarify? Your signature says that Kitty was diagnosed on "2nd of November." Of what year? TR makes a distinction between a newly diagnosed cat versus a cat that is a longer term diabetic (i.e., more than a year from the original diagnosis). Can you include the year in your signature?

I have edited it now, thanks.

She's doing great, she was tired after that 1.8 today but now shes alert and knows it's feeding time soon. She follows me everywhere when it's feeding time, although she's eaten twice the RDA for a 5kg cat the last couple of days. She loves it.
