I can't believe I did that. Champion Apaws Jocularity of Shaineh. April 12, 1996 to Jan 28, 2012. Over 8 years diabetic. Kidney failure and complications. Leaves Rorschach and me with holes in our hearts.

His own page is still at http://steverapaport.com/jock/

    Sigh.

Steve, I'm so sad to hear this.

Unfortunately, kitties never live long enough. They go before us
    to wait.

My deepest condolences. You are a wonderful kitty dad.

I'm so very very sorry, (((((((((Steve))))))))). Oh my goodness, this is not something I expected to read this morning. Such a surprise.

Those of us who use and have used Levemir owe you and Jock a tremendous THANK YOU. If it wasn't for his journey that you outline in the Pet Diabetes Wiki with such detail I would probably not felt as confident in switching to Levemir in '07.

A Board legend has flown high and strong. wings_cat

Gandalf the Grey will greet Champion Apaws Jocularity of Shaineh at the Bridge and thank him for his tremendous contributions to feline diabetes treatment.

My heart goes out to you, Steve. I know how much it hurts to lose a very very special kitty.

(((((Steve and Rorschach))))) For me, Jock is the FDMB legend. As Vicky said, if it hadn't been for your use of Levemir with Jock, there would not be the Lev regulated/remission kitties that there are. Ennis thanks Jock for blazing the trail, and I thank you for teaching me so much of what I know about FD.

I can only imagine the holes in your hearts. Jock was a huge personality. May you forever feel his love, as I know he will feel yours. Fly most free, Champion Jock!! wings_cat

(((Steve))) I am so very sorry for your loss and our loss. As others have said, if not for Jock we also would not have been able to make the switch to Levemir, but there are countless other contributions made to the world of feline diabetes because of Jock and your love for him. For years to come people and kitties will benefit. Jock will live on and continue to blaze new territory as others read his story and learn from the knowledge that you shared.

I hope that you can feel all of the love that we send your way and in time maybe some comfort can be gained from knowing the difference in this world that you and Jock made for so many.

Steve, my most heartfelt sympathy on the loss of your beloved Jock. He will be remembered by so many who knew him through this board and he will be missed. They truly were the "nekked boys" to us and how we loved seeing pictures of them. I know he is with Minivan(GA) but my heart also feels for Rorschach...how he must miss him. My heart goes out to you.

I just want you to know how much I feel for you. I know just what you mean. I keep thinking that too. And yet, I'm sure for Jock, as for Pearl it was so much kinder. But it sucks and it hurts and I wish I could get to "I can't believe I had her in my life" before everything. I expect we will someday. Oh, Steve - - - - - -((Steve and Rorschach)) - There is nothing I can say that hasn't already been said here - but I do repeat each and every statement - from my heart. Dude has done better on Lev than on any other insulin - thank you for your studies and assistance - and for sweet Jock, the pioneer. He and you taught us so much and all of us using Lev are using the knowledge you shared with us.

Minivan and Jock are together again - and Rorschach remains to try to soothe you in your grief - they have all been such a part of this board with their (as Hope says) "nekkedness" - how we have loved the pictures of them.

You are to be commended for the loving care you have given him - but I know that it was returned many times over by the love he returned and shared with you.

Another of our legends has gone ahead to look down and watch over those remaining - what a party must have been waiting for Jock - to welcome him out of the body that had become so frail.

I'm so sorry - my heart goes out to you - we shed your tears and grief.

Emmy & Dude (& MIttsi too)

Fly free, sweet Jock - we'll miss you.

I do not know you well as I came on the board only last year but through reading all you have written and documented in the PetDiabetes Wiki's on Jock and Levemir, I feel that you are family and I echo the sentiments already so eloquently expressed above - that you and Jock have touched many lives and will continue to do so for years to come. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Such sad news, I'm so sorry to hear this! Huge condolences to you, Steve, on the loss of the legend that is Jock. It was thanks to you guys that I switched Aztec from Caninsulin to Levemir all those years ago (first cat in Canada to try it), and I have no doubt that move extended his life dramatically. He'll be 19 this year, 9 years with diabetes. I raise my glass high in a toast to Jock, and to you for the incredible care you gave him. Much love.

Many tears reading the comments. I, too, must thank you and Jock for blazing the levemir trail - a trail I followed with Beau to get him off insulin after more than two years on vetsulin, but only a few months on lev. Now Jeddie is benefiting from the work you compiled and wrote down for all of us to learn from. Petdiabeteswiki is my first "go-to" for answers on FD and where I point others when I can't explain something.

Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for sharing Jock (and Minivan and Rorschach) with us.

(((Steve))) My heart and thoughts are with you and Rorshach today. Jock leaves a huge hole in the FD community, but his contributions to our society will never be forgotten. We are all blessed to have been able to come to know him, if even for just a little while.

    Fragile Circle
"We who choose to surround ourselves with lives even more temporary than our own,
live within a fragile circle, easily and often breached.
Unable to accept its awful gaps, we still would live no other way.
We cherish memory as the only certain immortality,
never fully understanding the necessary plan."

Oh no Steve! I am so sorry to hear that your dear Jocularity has passed on. We have lost a real true legend here on FDMB. Your boy paved the way in so many areas. Being the first kitty in the WORLD to use Levemir was the first big milestone, and then Jock showing us how he could successfully use Levemir along with a bolus of N, and then at another time using Levemir with TID dosing. Jock also showed us how important tight regulation can be for a lot of kitties.

He will truly be missed. I know there is a huge hole in your heart right now and poor Rorschach. I am sure he misses his buddy terribly already. Fly free dear Jock. (((Steve)))

so sad to hear that Jock has Journeyed on.
I never thought I would of ever said a nekked cat was handsome until I layed eyes on Jock and Rorschach and Minivan. Then I was completely smitten. You kindly answered all my questions about nekked cats. And of course, those about FD -- the micro dose syringe pictures and tips I used many times for Winnie and I have Jock ( and you ) to thank for them.

I especially enjoyed all their antics that you shared with us over the years.
I saved the link to my favorite because it would always give me a smile. It is the one w/ Jock and Basket dancer . This is the old link http://romlin.com/images/vex/BasketCase/, which no longer works.
If you still have it somewhere and are up to it -- will you please repost it someday ?
I thought it caught Jock's personality and was so sweet.

If only we could see Jock and Minivan clowning around at The Bridge. I am sure they are together... and I bet they have their ways of checking in on you and Rorschach.

Fly Free sweet handsome Jock !

Remember to take care of you Steve. I'm glad Rorschach is there for you, and you for him.

    Peace,

Oh no Steve, not our lovely trailblazing naked kitty, Jock?
Such an enormous legacy that special boy leaves here. Such a shining wake in his path.

((((((((hugs))))))))) to you and head scritches to Rorschach.
I hear there is a party of EPIC proportions at the bridge tonight, much whisker kissing and head butting and many who are giving thanks to Jock and to you for what you both were able to lead here.

I am sorry for your loss.
Fly free, and bright as the stars Jock.

    Oh......noooooooooooooooo.......... (((((((((((((((((Steve & Rorschach))))))))))))))))))))

I can't believe it. Can't wrap my head around it. We talk a lot around here (especially lately...) about legends.... Well Jock was certainly that! And so very much more.

    Naked, beautiful Jock.

I'm so deeply sorry, Steve, words fail me. I sit at my desk this morning, reading this news crying like a fool. Jock was that special. One that I certainly haven't met, but felt I knew, and adored. He captured my heart when I first came to the board. You were one of my first repsonders that helped me & Winston. You - and Jock - convinced me to attempt to home test when I thought it completely impossible...you patiently sent me link after link...articles and research papers....and a bazillion questions....

Though we logically know it isn't possible, Jock is one I thought would just live forever. No matter how long we get, it just isn't ever enough. I don't think 100 years would be enough...

I'm SO sorry you had to let Jock go, but there's some comfort knowing he is again with Minivan...and the antics they are likely getting up to while they wait for you.....

Rest joyfully, sweet Jock. You were loved beyond measure and will be missed more than words can express - and by more people than you can even imagine....

Wish you were close enough to give a real hug.... praying you peace and comfort....loves & scritches to Rorschach..

    Dear Steve,

May Jock be with you always in your heart, and hopefully you will see him again one day.

I am so very sorry for such a sad loss of a wonderful boy that Jock was. You have done so much for so many who have had to learn how to cope with feline diabetes. Bless your heart, and Jock's too. He truly was a treasure that will always be cherished by you, and all who knew him on this board.

    ((((HUGS)))),
