Good morning,

Preshot this morning is quite a contrast from yesterday's cycle. This was welcome as there
hadn't been green (catched) for this year. What's even better from yesterday is that Anna
was there and she introduced her mother to me (skype).. was very interesting she wouldn't
stop talking. At one point I was about to pretext internet failure to get back to her daughter.
Just before that, I had the occasion to demonstrate what we can do in 2017 to my father,
he was just amazed to see my girlfriend on the phone (skype). He's kind a mad, told me to
put everything in storage and move to the state asap (Anna lives in Virginia). I'm no compulsive
guy, lots of equations will need to run before doing anything like that, she was sorry about
this but it's the way it is.

You don't double the insulin the very next day because you kitty is running high :).
I love her but it's no reason to do things you might regret, don't want an hypo for
LL (love level) over flooding the system :) My rationnality was a cold shower to her
but we slept togheter (skype on but no video) on all night long. Was kind a strange
hearing her breath by me. Welcome in 2017 !

Wish you all a good week and good numbers, no worry about Small Kitty,
it was expected and almost a warranty he will jump.

Yesterday

Beautiful cycle yesterday Small Kitty! Please don't wait too long before heading back down.

Today's technology really is amazing. You are an intelligent man, you will know if and when the time is right to make a move. Virginia is a beautiful state. ;)

Back from the office with some test results I would have liked not to come up like that.

Just tested for Ketone with FreeStyle Precision Neo ketone meter using strips that were good until
Jan 2017 and results shows it might be positive... My reading showed that 2.2 and below is negative,
we're at 2.7. Did 2 test with results in similar range (2.6 and 2.7). Hope I won't need to sub-q and
force feed to flush out possible glucose intoxication :nailbiting::nailbiting::nailbiting::nailbiting:

Have urine keto strix on stand-by, will that that way as soon as I catch something.

:(:(:(:(:(:(:(

Can never have a break...
.

Not a fan of a ketone number. :(

I know the strips are expensive, but maybe you could test yourself to make sure it is accurate?

:bighug::bighug:

Oh no! Please keep us posted. Has SK had them before? If so, do you try and treat at home or is it a vet/hospital Trip?

:bighug:

Small Kitty had DKA before and I was able to rescue him with 3 intensive cares
at home. Strips I use are individually packed used for type 1 diabetes ketone detection
I think the really say the true they cannot turn off track one month after expiration date.

That's really sad, with low passes was sure this was not an imminent issue...

:(
.

I hope SK doesn't have them. :nailbiting:

I wouldn't think the strips would be bad one month out. I hope you can get a urine test soon. Do you give sub-q? Maybe do that as preventative just in case.

I am going to do a test here. You made me aware and it has been about 10 days since I have tested.

Hi Sebastian. One wants to be concerned with blood ketone readings readings once they get to around 2.4 - 2.5.

Supporting documentation:
Measurement of ketones - Weingart_J VET Diagn Invest-2012(1).pdf
Measuring ketones - JSAP_Zeugswetter - 2012.pdf

You'll want to increase water consumption to try to wash the ketones out of his system. I don't panic when I see a single ketone reading. It's upwards trends that are scary. For now, I'd increase his water consumption. Whether you can get him to drink extra water by mixing more water in his food, syringing water, or administering sub-q fluids... whatever works. It's your call. Also, make sure he's eating well.

Continue testing for ketones. If the ketone numbers begin to trend upwards, you'll have to become more aggressive.

That's amazing information Alex, really appreciate. There is already water in the food up to soup consistency
but I'm not sure Small Kitty is drinking that much. I'll go see for some subq to flush out what's running inside.
Who knows if this will not help lowering numbers that are not already ''good''.

Thanks again, you're marvelous, like that kind of information, science is key to understanding.

Good night to you !

Sébastien
