Bounce cleared but still having poop issues. So far just a couple of tiny pebbles. I'll try giving him pumpkin with each meal but might need to resort to miralax. I don't want this to get out of control. I'll see what my vet suggests at my appointment on Wednesday.:D

After seeing a few more pebbles I resorted to miralax. I briefly found alternative, kristalose powder which is lactulose minus the flavor, until I saw it contains sugar. :arghh: Maybe if I find the right amount of pumpkin he can get away with every other day of miralax until I find a suitable substitute.

Me too. I had to drag him out from under the bed and gave him a little food with a few pieces of shrimp on top. That he liked and he is meowing for more! LOL
 
Didn't eat the food even with the shrimp at 4.5. I woke him to test at +5.5 and he dropped a little more. I think the constipation must be bothering him. I picked the shrimp out of the cat food and he ate it.
Ate a tiny amount of food so I will need to test sooner rather than later again.:eek::( He went back under the bed.
 
Poor Max. I hope you can find something to help with the constipation soon. I hope you can get him to eat enough to keep surfing safely.
 
Better watch out...sounds like he's training you to feed him shrimps and only shrimps!...LOL

Hope the miralax gets things moving again and then maybe once things are "in motion", the pumpkin will keep him from getting clogged up again.

Poor Max....Hope he feels better soon but his numbers sure are nice today!
 
Ah, Max, we're all pulling for you to get some good poop reports. Poor boy. He's got to be uncomfortable. So, Max. Go, go, go.

Thanks for stopping by Ruth and Marilyn. I'm hoping the miralax kicks in by morning if not sooner and that the pumpkin helps tonight. I'm giving him a very small amount with each meal.

Grr, my mom has another UTI and started keflex today.

I'm also sorry I haven't kept up but did you ever try slippery elm bark syrup with him?

Sending your mom healing vines. I know how the UTI's really affect her. I hope they caught it earlier this time.
 
Hi Deanna and Marje and thanks for stopping by. I haven't tried SEB mostly because I don't want to have to syringe something I know he won't like, mostly because he has the memory of an elephant and should I ever need to assist feed him I don't want him to react to tge syringe. I'm hoping the pumpkin will kick in enough that he won't need daily miralax. Maybe I will find a clue when he goes to the vet next week as to why he needs help with this. Low potassium maybe?
 
You can also just put a bit of the powder directly in his food. It just takes a little sprinkle of it. I've done that before, too, and my cat ate it fine.
