Hi, made it to the vet in record time, where was the traffic hiding?! Kinda spooky. Sitting in the car waiting for time to go in, lots of yappy droolers....
I feel like I'm going to throw up

Hi news is bad as it can get.,carcinoma spread thru entire abdomen. Liver, spleen, pancreas, vowel, abdominal wall, basically everywhere and no treatment options other than palliative. We are looking at a couple of weeks with rapid decline..

Very sorry Leslie, forecasting the lost of your little friend must be terrible. That's not
the kind of announcement anybody would like. If suffering is constant and unsustainable
(Gussie has not been eating for a while), it's hard on the system.

Glad we now know what's happening and Gussie will remain with you up to the

We have been here for the good times and we will be here throughout. This place is family. My only words of wisdom are to take advantage of every minute and spoil Gussie and let your kitty know, not that he doesn't already, how well loved he is. Beyond that, listen to him. He will tell you when it's his time. Cats know. We just need to be smart enough to hear what they tell us.

You are both in my thoughts.

 

I don't understand how anyone can tell from an US what type of cancer. I guess since it's spread it's too late for chemo ? I'm so sad to read this. No words. Just tears and hugs and love and prayers your way.

 

Hi Elise, they showed tumors just everywhere, maybe they could tell because of the nature of how invasive it was? No, chemo would not be an option they said because of how invasive it already is..it is in everything and in the abdominal muscles too, it has just spread everywhere..they said given the nature of how aggressive it is even had we found it earlier it would not have mattered..
My heart is broken and numb..nothing seems real

 

So very sorry to read the news. You will love each other now and furever. Treasure each moment you have together. Gussie will let you know and we will be here for you.

Alas, this is what happened with Hoppy (who had been dx'd diabetic 4years earlier and was in remission). Blood work fine, U/S showed all of what Les described about sweet Gussie's U/S. My vet said that probably was pancreatic cancer that may have been undetectable for awhile but emerged fast and spread fast. I felt the same way, Les. Numb and as if a horrible dream. Love and cherish and honor.❤️❤️❤️❤️

Btw the brand CBD is Happy Pets, I did remember to ask...
Gussie is still eating off and on and seems relatively pain free when he is sleeping, he dreams and in his dreams he runs..that will be our only med..unless his pain becomes too intense

 

I however can't seem to get warm..it is like some icy wind keeps blowing thru and I'm chilled to the bone despite being bundled up..

 

heating pad? hot water bottle? hot toddy?

 

It's the shock and the exhaustion. Have you eaten today? You have to look after yourself too.

I've found only 2 ways to get warm in these situations. Go to bed cold with lots of quilts and wake up warm, or have a hot bath. There's a third way, but hot flashes never happen when you need one.

 

I'd probably drown if I tried a bath

 

I wish we could all just come over and crash your house

 

So, so sad to hear this news. Love on that sweet boy.

 

A foot soak then, that the cats can knock over. With loads of sweet smelly things in it. Get the blood warm.

 

I'm so incredibly sorry for the bad news. Love you sweet Gussie, give him all the treats he wants and cherish every moment you have left. He is blessed to have such a wonderful, caring bean.

 

Oh no, Les! I am so, so sorry to hear your sad news. My heart is breaking for you, and I just can't stop crying. I so wish I had that magic wand, or even some profound words to help. I just don't know what to say, except that we will all be here for you, with all the virtual love and hugs you can possibly imagine. The same disease happened to my Scooter. There came a point where I stopped the ear pokes and testing and just let him be. He stayed with me every moment and cuddled. I don't regret that.

I am so so very sorry to read your devastating news. I know exactly how you are feeling.
I have no words of wisdom, but try and enjoy the time you have with him if you can and don't think ahead too much.
I only had Sheba for a week after diagnosis but I tried to enjoy that day and give her lots of love.
