Last week's post
Ivana is still loving life at The Falls, much to our happiness too. She's also still going pretty good re CKD - still drinking a lot (so not needing fluids yet), still eating and pooping ok, and we haven't heard much nighttime yowling in the last week or so. Yay for sleep! My parents were visiting last weekend and she even let my Dad pick her up and carry her - unbelievable!
In other not-so-chirpy news, our chicken Brandy, who you may remember was deathly ill about 6 weeks ago, has gone a bit downhill again. Unfortunately this means she's not just being picked on by the other chickens, but actually attacked - she came out of her coop the other morning covered in blood no doubt caused by her roommate Bacardi (they used to be best friends). So she's permanently separated from the other girls and moves between the loungeroom for cuddles, a locked pen outside our door at night, and a big grassy pen during the day well away from the others. Hopefully she'll come good again, she's a tough one.
And in even more not-so-good news, my parents Labrador dog Bear is in hospital at the moment, having undergone emergency surgery last night to remove his spleen which had a mass on it, and also to have a biopsy of a small growth on his liver. There was absolutely no indication that anything was wrong before yesterday morning, so my poor parents are in great shock. He's 13 yrs old and has been their baby for most of that time, so they are nervous wrecks at the moment. Here's Bear trying to fit his big dog body onto a little cat bed.
