    Yesterday

He's still in his too high blah mood, where he's less vibrant than usual, but still in a good mood.
I hope he'll decide that lower is where he wants to be.

    Wishing everyone a great day.

    Re: 10/23 River AMPS:432 +2:349 +4:301

I took a urine sample to the vet today, who confirmed that he has a UTI, so that's why the high numbers, and the insulin resistance.
I'm always a bit anxious with high numbers that don't seem like a bounce because he seems to be prone to UTIs.
So for now he'll get Zeniquin for 3 weeks, and I'll look into what I can do to avoid UTIs.

Sort of a mixed bag there, Lara.

Not good that he has a UTI.
But good that there's a "reason" behind the red/pink/yellow numbers that can be fixed with meds.

Remember a week or two ago when you noted he was drinking more than normal? Maybe that's a "head's up" that a UTI is on the horizon? I think it was back around the 12th or 13th, when he had been giving you good numbers on 2.75u. Then the numbers started looking not-so-good.

Yep, my bad for not getting his blood/urine done when we were at the vet on the 12th.
It's always a work in progress, life, that is.

This is how I'm seeing it, Michele, so, as they say, "From your lips to God's ears."
Now I have to be careful he doesn't nosedive.
Hm...should I have done that increase?

oh the constant second guessing we go through here! its endless....

I wonder since he was high because of the UTI would it be good to go back to 3.25 u for a while till the infection clears up? Im not sure how that works.....Im just sort of thinking out loud. I dont know...Im way to inexperienced to speculate

I did. You have good instincts. Which is good, considering your cat is the DiveMaster General.

Well, the first step in fixing the problem is understanding what it is. I hope the meds get to work quickly so River can feel better. River? No duck diving, ok? Come down safely, por favor.

    Hmmm,
That AM cycle looks like the old "could be a bounce clearing slide from AMPS to PMPS" sort of cycle. Way to keep things interesting, River ;-)

I'm glad you have a reason for River's high BG lately. I hope the UTI clears up soon. You may want to keep in mind that sometimes ABs can raise BG. Just keep an eye on his numbers when the AB is finished in case he drops a lot.

Thank you Jane and Pam, and his appetite is excellent, Carl.
The only time in his life he hasn't been gung-ho for food was the day he collapsed with pancreatitis and ketones, and he went to the hospital.

  25. Good. Healthy appetite is what you want with a +2 of 50.

    Healthy appetite, always.
He's 4.4 now at +3. Can't convert that for you because the SS isn't doing it right now for me. But it's somewhere around 80.

  27. The u.s. page says 79 on his ss. Good !

Whoa there River! Let's keep surfing just about where you are now. Good catch on the 50 Lara.  Didn't think antibiotic would take effect so quickly but I'm glad you've got an answer to why he wasn't feeling as good.

Good thing you wanted a little more drama in your life.
