Good morning!
Boomer ate all of his overnight fuds although, like usual, I don't know when he actually finished off the +9.
He decided to wake us up twice last night.....well once was at 7:00 so I didn't mind that (and would have woken up on my own shortly) but once was around 3:00 I think. I called him and he came to bed and luckily I got back to sleep because I was exhausted from the mini sessions yesterday and hadn't slept much the night before.
Testing at +3. Hopefully he gives me a green number. Last night his numbers went into the low blues then all of a sudden jumped up to mid blues and he ended up back on insulin.

The mini sessions were mostly successful yesterday. It was a cool day; I was comfortable but my customers were a bit chilly I think (and of course they show up in clothing not designed to keep them warm). I had one customer who had to cancel due to her husband being ill but she has since rebooked and for a full session instead of a mini. So that worked out ok. And after all my customers were done I did both of my daughters' families (separately and then together) then my step-son and his family came. I will post family pictures at some point. I did have my husband take a picture of me with my 5 grandchildren.

Seem to be having a lot of trouble writing this condo today; buttons aren't working. When trying to link yesterday's condo I couldn't block the word "yesterday" until 4 or 5 tries. Tried to click on "create thread" previously....nope wouldn't work the first time.

Hope you see green at +3

But last time there was toothy issues. Lets keep all our paws crossed for Boomer.
BFG headed to the lagoon last night and this morning, just paddling in the shallow end, let's hope boomer follows him in.

Are you saying you gave him insulin? The SS doesn't reflect that.
I think Julie means last time this happened he ended up jumping up to mid blues and back on insulin.

Yes it does..... back in July his levels increased to low blues, we took him to the vet on July 9 and he had a slight fever so we started him on antibiotics but the bw came back normal. Left him on antibiotics (because something had been causing the fever). On July 27 his levels went up a bit more and the following day we started him on .1u. On Aug 12 he had a dental and hasn't had insulin since. So he was only back on insulin for about 2 weeks.

+3 137 :eek::eek::eek:
Judy, I posted in Bubba's condo that there are reports of raised BG's with FF lately. Here's the updated link from Diabetic Cat Help. Might be worth taking notes to see if it's happening with Booms. https://www.facebook.com/notes/615866611772541/Low Carb Food/624883120870890/
Yes I saw some concerns raised in the Facebook group but since Boomer's levels hadn't gone up I didn't pay much attention to it. Possibly I was accessing an older supply. I have emailed Purina to get the analysis. Meanwhile Boomer's levels are going up:eek:

@Doodles & Karen link isn't working

I just used an online calculator and used the nutritional content for Ocean Whitefish and Tuna from the information Purina sent me in July:
crude protein 12.0%, crude fat 2.0%, crude fiber 1.5%, moisture 78%, ash 3.7%
And it came to 2.8% carbs.
And I compared the information provided to me in July to a can recently purchased and it's exactly the same.

Just passing on what's been circulating. There may or may not be any merit to it. I don't feed FF so have zero personal experience.
It could also be different from US to Canada.
I was actually hoping to find a difference; something that would explain Boomer's level increase easily. And it's even higher today so now wondering whether a vetty trip is in order.

Ok, Boomer...no more messing around and get back to greens! I feed Trix FF and I wonder if that's why her number have been a wee bit higher lately, too. I dunno, though...as long as she stays in the normal range even if a bit higher than usual, I'm OK with it. I really, really don't want to mess with her fuds because it was very difficult finding something she would consistently eat after her nasty bout with p-titis a couple years ago...

Well I think Boomer would eat just about anything although I seem to remember he wasn't fond of ff beef. Maybe I should try an equivalent to ff....in Canada apparently president's choice offers something similar.

Judy, I let Bubba outside this AM to work off his 129 and bought him in and waited for 4 hours later to test ( in case he had just eaten a mouse) and he is back down to 79. I am thinking it was the FF . Hopefully, Boomer will be down for his PMPS. Fingers and Paws crossed. :bighug::bighug::bighug:

So the calculation I did earlier for Ocean Whitefish and Tuna....because the calculator asked for the moisture content I presumed it was giving me the carb % on dry matter. Turns out it isn't. When I put the figures into a dry matter calculator, I'm coming up with 13%. YIKES!

@Asrael I just posted the analysis for Ocean Whitefish and Tuna into the same calculator and got 3%. I think I know where I'll be going this afternoon! Thanks for the tip!

Based on a nutritional chart for Canadian PC Extra Meaty Line, we picked up two varieties tonight; ocean whitefish and tuna (calculated as 3% carb, dry matter) and chicken and liver (calculated as 2% carb dry matter).
We got home right at Boomer's feeding time so I didn't compare the label to the chart until after feeding him and preparing his auto feeder with 3 meals.
Using the info from the can, ocean whitefish and tuna is 10% and chicken and liver is 9%

MAN!

I've calculated the dry matter carbs for each of the foods Boomer eats. I have no idea when these changed but chicken 10.45%, seafood 9.09% ocean whitefish tuna 12.73% and cod sole shrimp 13.64%

SIGH

The rest of the fancy feast I have in the house is all high carb that I had on hand in case of emergency. Except.....turkey and giblets!

Calculated....6.82%

YAHOO! So I'm now changing Boomer's overnight meals to turkey and giblets. And yes I will be up at 11:00 (+3) meal to make sure he likes it.
